Chapter 25

Blake’s furious face branded itself in Jessica’s mind, and she had a hard time going back to sleep again.

On Saturday morning, Jessica went to the hospital for a medical check-up. In the past two years, she had slept with Blake countless times but never once showed any signs of pregnancy. She was certain that it was not because of her habit of washing up after sex.

Even though she already had a hunch, Blake’s word gave her the urge to get it checked. After all, a hunch would be just a hunch if it was not verified. It would be a totally different story with the medical report in hand.

“Madam, your body is fine,” the doctor declared after he went through the report.

Jessica frowned slightly. She looked at the report carefully and unconsciously bit her lip. She typed on the phone: [But why can’t I get pregnant again? My husband and I never take any precautionary steps.]

Curious, the doctor raised a brow at her. A meaningful glance flashed over the doctor’s eyes and she asked, “Do you want to have a second child?”

Jessica puckered her lips and shook her head. She typed: [No, I just want to know whether there is something wrong with my body.]

The doctor giggled strangely and said, “Oh, I see. Maybe it’s because you are feeling pressured.”

When she did not answer her question directly, Jessica suspiciously glanced at her. The doctor added, “Well, young folks nowadays are facing immense pressure. Besides, having a baby isn’t your responsibility alone. The problem might lie on your husband’s side.” The doctor awkwardly cleared her throat and started writing something on the report.

“Mmm, since your body is a little weak, I’ll give you some medicine to regulate your body.”

Jessica looked at the piece of prescription blankly before she went out to the dispensary. After she closed the door, the doctor took her phone out and dialed a number.

Blake was at the company and he was walking to his office after a last-minute meeting.
