Chapter 238 Good Acting Skills

“You don’t have to waste your breath. I won’t agree!” Lola said directly when she saw Mark and Hansel. She had made up her mind and would not waver anymore, so it was better not to waste time.

Mark and Hansel were in no rush and looked at her. “Do you want to ruin all this so badly?”

On that topic, Lola froze. Her long and delicate eyebrows trembled, but she did not open her mouth. She pursed her lips, seemingly indifferent on the matter.

Mark stepped forward and placed a photo in front of her. Lola glanced at it and froze in the next second.

“You— Where did you find this?” Lola asked Mark. Her yellow pupils were wide open in disbelief.

However, Mark did not answer her and went around her before sitting down. “You should still remember Mike, right?”

“Where did you get that photo? Where did you get it from?!” Lola screamed, becoming emotionally agitated.

Mark was in no hurry and waited for her to vent. Then, Lola looked at the photo and seemed to get lost inside her memories. Her eyes turned blurry.

Hansel and Lingo watched from the side. It seemed like this weak spot was correct.

“Do you still remember him?”

Lola slowly raised her head and looked at him. “What do you want?”

“As luck would have it, I’m Mike’s friend!” Mark said.

As soon as he spoke, Hansel and Lingo were stunned by the side. What… was going on?

This was not the play they agreed on, right?

Lola frowned. “What did you say?”

“You might not believe it, but it’s the truth!”

Sure enough, Lola did not believe him. She looked at him with eyes full of wariness. Even though she knew he had an ulterior motive, she still had to continue listening to what he said, because she held a small hope in her heart that perhaps, it was true.

How long had it been since she heard the news about him? Since there was a hint, it was as if she found herself. She did not want to let it go.

“I’m acquainted with him. It was on a mission, and the person he wanted to kill was my ‘client’, not only did he not succeed in the mission, but he was also injured by me!”

Lola frowned, seeing that Mark seemed to be telling the truth. She was still skeptical.

“He didn’t finish the mission. Half a month later, his target switched to me!” Then, Mark looked at Lola. “He still did not succeed, but neither side won that time, and that’s how we got acquainted with each other!”

“I’ve never heard of you before!” Lola looked at him.

“Same here. I’ve never heard of you either!”

Lola, “...”

“I hadn’t known him for a long time, but I can be considered a confidant. Our positions were just different. Even if we couldn’t be friends, we weren’t enemies either!”

Lola remained silent and looked at him, wondering what else he could say.

“I just didn’t expect that he’d end up in such an accident!” Mark’s gaze turned to Lola. “If I’m not wrong, the reason you did all this is to avenge Mike!”

“Do you think I’ll believe you just because you said that?” Lola asked warily. She had been in this circle for a long time and was already trained to be vigilant. She would not believe in just anything.

“It’s up to you to decide whether or not to believe me, but before he died, he made a request to me!”

“What was it?” Lola immediately asked.

Although she said she did not believe him, in her heart, she was already completely convinced.

At that time, Lingo could not help but whisper in Hansel’s ear, “Is what your Daddy saying true?”

Hansel looked at them for a long time before saying, “...I don’t know!”

Lingo, “...”

If it were true, then that was okay, but if it were false, Lingo really had to admire Mark’s acting skills and his ability to make things up.

Mark looked at Lola. “Before you ask that question, shouldn’t you answer my question first?”

Lola fell silent.

She looked at Mark. Even now, she was still skeptical and did not dare to believe him completely, but she also did not want to miss this opportunity. No one had mentioned Mike’s name for a long time.

How she longed to find even just a little trace of Mark’s existence in the present day.

After hesitating for a long time, she said, “Don’t you already know everything?”

Mark seemed very calm at hearing this answer. “I didn’t think that you’d still be like this until now!”

“What did he ask you to do?”

“He asked me to help him prepare two new identities, air tickets, and a hiding spot!”

Lola froze. Her emotions seemed to become unsteady and she gripped her fists tightly before looking at him. “When was that?”

“Three years ago, on the fifth of September!”

Lola fell silent. She sat on the ground, seemingly caught up in her memories.

She looked at the photo and reached out to take it. Judging by how she was not reacting strongly, she seemed to have believed Mark.

“That’s right. Everything I did was for him!” Lola looked at the photo. “I’ll make all those people pay for it!”

“Have you ever thought about the fact that you might sacrifice a lot of innocent people by doing that?”

“So what?” Lola asked, “I’ll do whatever it takes to avenge him!”

At that, Mark narrowed his eyes and smiled coldly. “If Mike knew you were doing this, what do you think he would do?”

Lola looked up at him. “What do you mean?”

“Although the Mike I knew was an assassin, he never kills innocent people. Even for me, he only wanted to compete with me. He never wanted to kill me!”

Lola pursed her lips. “Is it wrong for me to want to take revenge for him?”
