Chapter 268 Knowing Her Is My Life’s Greatest Fortune

“I’m appreciating you, of course!”

“Appreciating me?” Lyla raised her eyebrows.

“I know all about what you said downstairs!”

At that, Lyla pulled down her lower lip. “Don’t be obsessed with me. I’m just a legend!” Lyla walked over and put her bag down before sitting on the sofa.

Mark leaned over and pressed himself to her. “I find that I love you more and more!”

Lyla made a disgusted look. “I told you, don’t worship me too much!”

“No, I’m worshipping you more and more now and found that I can’t live without you. Beautiful lady, please marry me!”

“Sorry, but I’m happily single!”

The two adults played childish tricks like these.

Looking at her, Mark went up and kissed her on the lips...

Lyla did not move away and also reached out, wrapping her arms around him.

…....

Lyla must be the most popular person in M.K right now.

No one knew who it was who spread Lyla’s words and actions to the Internet. Her temperament and style of conversation soon became something that everyone wanted to imitate.

No matter how hot the Internet became, Lyla always lived her life with a low-profile.

However, this day, Amelia asked her out.

When Lyla arrived at the cafe, she was already there.

Lyla walked over and sat in front of her expressionlessly. “Do you need something from me?”

Amelia looked at her. She had thought for a long time before mustering the courage to ask her out.

“There’s something I want to say to you!”

Lyla lowered her eyes. “Go on!”

“Your dad’s company is going bankrupt!” Amelia said.

Although Lyla thought a lot about this by herself, hearing this still made her stunned.

“The reason why I looked for Mark Pattinson is because of this!”

“What has that got to do with me?” Lyla retorted.

“Are you really that indifferent?” Amelia asked.

At that time, Lyla leaned forward and looked at her. “Half of that company, that belonged to my mom, has completely been handed over to you. What else do you want?” Lyla asked.

Amelia was stunned. “The company isn’t just mine, but also your father’s. It’s your dad’s hard work. Even if you hate me, can you really stand by and watch your father’s company close down?”

“If I didn’t know Mark Pattinson, what would you do?” Lyla retorted.

Amelia was stunned before saying, “There’s no point talking about ifs. Lyla, you can hate me, but you can’t just stand by and watch your father’s hard work destroyed!”

Lyla pursed her lips and did not speak.

The corners of Amelia’s mouth lifted in a cold smile. “You should know how much I hate you, but I still came to you for this matter. I’m begging you. You have to help your dad!”

Lyla remained silent.

“I admit that I was at fault before, but your father and mother no longer had feelings for each other. I know I was despicable to intervene, but your father and I are truly in love!”

Truly in love?

Lyla laughed sarcastically at those words. “Can you ruin someone else’s life just because you’re truly in love? My mom passed away so long ago, but have you ever felt a little guilty?”

“It’s because your mother refused to give up!” Amelia screamed.

After shouting this, she seemed to notice that she had become slightly agitated. The people around also looked over at her. Amelia glanced at them and forcefully held back her anger. “You should know very well that your mom was sick. If she let go earlier, things wouldn’t have turned out this way. It’s because of her obsession that it ended up like that!” Amelia said.

Lyla’s lips hooked up at her words. “Are you done?”

Amelia frowned. “You still refuse to help your dad?”

“I think it’s more appropriate for you to start over. That way, it can prove how much love you have for each other as a couple!” Then, Lyla stood up. “I wish you two happiness!”

Then, she left.

“Lyla Lowe, you—”

Amelia looked at her and wanted to say something, but she did not dare to scream since there were people around. After all, they were a hot topic for the news and would be besieged by reporters if they were not careful.

Thus, she could only endure it.

She never thought that even though she went to Lyla, Lyla would still be so cold-hearted and indifferent!

Amelia clenched her fists. She was angry, yet did not know what to do.

……

After leaving the cafe, Lyla drove around aimlessly. No one knew what was going on in her head. After driving for a long time, she found a quiet place and stopped.

She thought about what Amelia said. She knew that what happened was not the fault of just one person, but her mother did indeed die because of it.

Until now, Amelia did not have a trace of remorse.

She blinked, not knowing what to do.

After an unknown amount of time, her phone vibrated. She picked it up and saw that it was a message from Hansel. Smiling, she finally started the car and went back.

“Mummy, where did you go today?” Hansel asked. “You didn’t pick up the phone!”

“I went out to handle some stuff!” Lyla smiled.

“Are you especially nervous since you’re getting married soon?” Hansel came over and grinned.

Lyla was stunned. It did not seem like she was.

She did not feel like she was someone about to get married. She did not feel anything at all.

“Not really…” Lyla said.

“Then why are you all absent-minded?” Hansel asked.
