Chapter 273 The Purpose Of His Return

Since returning from Rome, Mark had been swamped with office work and was getting married at the end of the month. Even though that responsibility rested on Hansel and Gretel’s shoulders, he was as busy as he could be.

On the contrary, Felix had a lot of time in his hands. He would ask Lyla out for a meal whenever he had the time.

Due to the feeling of guilt and indebtedness towards him, Lyla would not refuse the invitation as she also wanted to take the opportunity to repair her relationship with him.

In some way, she was hoping to obtain Felix’s blessing.

However, Lyla was clear that this possibility was wishful thinking, albeit wishful thinking was sort of a dream. She would never know unless she gave it a go.

Hence, Lyla never refused Felix when he came to pick her up for a ride.

Moreover, the few days of hanging out was a blast to the past for Lyla, kicking back and living her life free and easy.

One day, Lyla had just gotten off work when Felix’s call came.

“What’s up now?”

“I’m hungry.”

“Am I your mother? Why are you looking for me when you’re hungry?” Lyla retorted with a smile.

“I want you to have a meal with me.”

Lyla took a glance at the time. “Okay, I’m just about off work...”

“I’m waiting for you at the door.”

Lyla. “...”

She had expected it to be as such since the same thing had happened for the past few days. “Wait ten minutes and I’ll be right out once I’m done.”

“Okay.”

After hanging up, Lyla quickly attended to the matter at hand. Just then, Lily walked over and leaned against the table. “Lyla Lowe, Ms. Lowe...”

Lyla swept a glance at her. “What’s up?”

“What’s the story lately?” Raising a brow, Lily asked.

“What story?”

“What story? Shouldn’t I be the one asking you?” Lily replied. Narrowing her eyes, she inched closer. “What? Is there something that you’re hiding from me?”

Lyla let out a smile. “I don’t know what you’re trying to get at.”

Lily squinted. “I heard that someone has been picking you up from work everyday and he happens to be a really handsome guy.”

Lyla poked her finger on Lily’s head. “When did you become this nosey?”

“I’m not nosey, I’m showing concern towards you.”

“Yes, yes, yes, concern it is.”

“Yet you refuse to come clean.”

“About this... It’s a long story.”

“Cut it short then.”

“The short version is that there is indeed a super handsome guy picking me up for dinner.”

Lily’s jaw dropped. “Lyla Lowe, you-you sure had it in you. Don’t forget, you’re tying the knot soon, but you’re not toning it down.”

Lyla helplessly sighed. “What am I to do? I’ve got such charm.” She was flicking her hair amid talking.

Lily was not having it. “You’re really proud about it.”

Lyla grinned. “Alright, I can’t talk to you. I’m in a rush. I’ll let you know next time if I ever remember.”

“Are you going again?”

Lifting her brow, Lyla gave a grand twirl before taking off.

…...

Lily stood there, watching her receding figure while helplessly shaking her head. It would be hard to resist this person if she had charm...

…...

The entrance.

With Felix picking her up everyday lately, that absolutely stunning face was enough to attract attention. On top of that, he kept a high profile, arriving with a sports car each time.

Everyone knew what was going on, following his presence.

Felix got down the car when Lyla went over.

“You’re here?”

Lyla swept a glance around. “What? Look at you, all decked out. Afraid that people won’t know it’s you?”

Felix curled his lips. “I was born this way. It’s not like I want it.”

“Tsk.”

“Alright, can we go eat now?” Felix enquired.

“Let’s go.”

Felix displayed his gentlemanly side by opening the door for her. Lyla took a seat in the passenger seat.

“What do you feel like having?” Felix threw a question.

“That would depend on you. I’ll eat with you whatever you want.”

Felix grinned. He did not care what was for dinner as long as she was together with him. Her words made Felix really happy.

As the car cruised along the road, Lyla sat on the passenger’s seat, engaging with him in talk and laughter.

They never realized that there was a camera behind them, aiming and snapping at them...

…...

This matter was spread like wildfire in the office. J was breaking out in cold sweat due to the news.

Like a cat on hot bricks, he could not stand still.

Mark took a look at him before proceeding to study the materials in his hands. “Just speak if there’s something on your mind. Don’t go around in circles here.”

Hearing this, J drew near. “Boss, I wonder if you have heard about the rumors going around the office recently?”

“What rumors?”

“It’s about-about the man who came to the office to pick Ms. Lowe up...”

Dumbstruck at first, Mark then absent-mindedly closed his eyes. “I do. What’s up with that?”

J blinked. Wh-what’s the situation?
