Chapter 319 Our Relationship Does Not Go Beyond A Partnership

Having read the news, Justin barged into the office.

Mark was looking at some documents in the office when Justin came crashing in.

A secretary who followed behind him looked at Mark with a helpless look on her face. “Mr. Pattinson, I...”

After taking a glance at Justin, Mark gave a nod towards the secretary. “You can leave.”

Bobbing her head, the secretary went out and closed the door behind her.

Justin walked up and hurled the newspaper in front of him. “What’s the meaning of this?”

Without even sparing a glance, Mark said, “Isn’t this what you hoped for?”

“I...” Justin wanted to give his input but no words escaped his lips.

“Sure, I hoped this would happen but... but...”

Despite all the buts, Justin could not explain himself.

“But what?” Mark asked.

“But... Uh... Lyla hasn’t been gone for that long. Is-isn’t it inappropriate to do so?” Justin enquired.

Mark resignedly curled his lips. “You kept introducing women to me when I clearly said no. Now that I found one, you’re telling me this? What do you really want?” Mark probed.

Justin was silenced by the questions.

Looking helpless, he approached the sofa and let out a sigh. “Actually, it’s not just you, but I have also been hopeful, wishing Lyla is still alive... It’s a pity that we haven’t heard anything after all this time.”

Justin took no notice of Mark’s long face at the mention of Lyla.

All this time, Lyla’s name had been a forbidden word.

It could not be brought up.

Justin turned to Mark. “Forget it. I’m not going to say anything anymore. As for that Delilah Collins, when are you planning to bring her home so that I can take a look?”

“What’s the rush?” Mark uttered.

“I’m not in a rush. I just want to observe her on your behalf. What if, what if she doesn’t take kindly to my grandchildren?” Justin asked.

Mark sighed and shot him an impatient look. “It’s too early to talk about this.”

“What do you mean? Are-aren’t you serious?”

Mark was without a word.

Justin drew close. “You, Mark Pattinson, I’m telling you, you’re a father with two kids. Even if you’re not thinking about yourself, think about the children. Don-don-don’t you mess around out there.”

Mark resignedly lifted his head. “What are you saying?”

“What? Am I wrong?”

“Don’t worry, I won’t mess around.”

“In that case, bring her home so that I can take a look.”

Mark wanted to say something but swallowed his words in the end. He nodded. “Fine, no problem.”

Justin could finally relax. “Okay, let’s make it tomorrow night then.”

Mark gave a nod without uttering more.

With his mind at ease, Justin gazed at him. “I’ll let you continue with your work. I should get going.”

With that, he turned to leave but a thought struck him the moment of the twirl. “Oh, right. Don’t let the two darlings know about this yet. I’m afraid that they might not be able to accept it.”

Speaking of Hansel and Gretel, Mark pursed his lips and held his tongue. Having said his piece, Justin took off right away.

Mark did not give it a second thought. To him, this was all just for show, so he was unbothered.

…,..

“You’re saying that your father wants to meet with me?” Delilah looked at Mark.

Mark bobbed his head. “This is one of the keynotes of our partnership.”

Delilah was happy at first but her heart sank when he brought up the partnership.

“I know. You don’t have to remind me about that every waking minute,” Delilah muttered to herself.

“I’ll pick you up tomorrow night.” Without wasting another breath, Mark got up to leave.

“Hey, are you going to leave just like that?” Delilah blurted.

“Why not?”

“You... Why don’t I buy your dinner?” Delilah asked. “I’m not busy at the mo...”

“There’s no need,” Mark ruthlessly answered as he gazed at Delilah. “I hope that our relationship doesn’t go beyond the partnership. You should stop while you’re at it if you have other thoughts in mind. Otherwise, I’ll end the partnership.”

Delilah was dumbstruck by the statement.

Before she could open her mouth, Mark had walked out.

Sitting there, Delilah watched his receding figure with her brows in a knot...

…...

“Daddy, how are you doing?” During a video call, Hansel threw a question at Mark.

Mark grinned. “I’m okay. How about you two?”

It was only when facing them that Mark would seem a little happy.

“We’re doing good,” Gretel answered with a grin.

“That’s great.”

Hansel fixated on the person in the video call. “Daddy...” He was stumped for words.

“What’s wrong?”

Hansel finally voiced out after thinking twice, “Nothing. Please look after your health.”

Mark let out a chuckle. “You too. Your bodies are still growing so take care of yourselves.”

“Okay, we will.”

“Alright, Daddy. That’s all for today. You should get some rest. We’re turning off the video.”

“Okay.”

The video call ended after a conversation.

Gretel turned to Hansel. “Hansel, did you have something to say to Daddy?”
