Chapter 333 Completely Defeated

Lyla stared at him. “Kyle, you will find your own lady.”

Pale in the face, Kyle smiled. “I hope so.”

The pair stood in silence until Kyle spoke, “I will find a place tomorrow and move out.”

Dumbstruck by this information, she stared at him. “There’s no need for that. It’s okay, you can stay here.”

“It’s fine with me but what about you? The neighbors will talk and he might misunderstand,” Kyle said. He really only had Lyla’s interests in mind.

Lowering her head, she was lost for words.

Just then, Kyle was hit with a realization and turned to her. “Oh, right. in order to chase him away when he came the other day, I let him know that you’re my girlfriend... I’m sorry.” He trusted that she had gotten the message without him finishing the sentence.

Dumbfounded for a moment, it dawned on her what Mark meant the other day.

“I can help you explain things to him if it’s necessary.”

“It’s fine,” Lyla told him. “He won’t take it to heart.”

“But...”

“Don’t worry about it. I will handle this myself. Don’t get worked up over it.”

With no changing to Lyla’s mind at this point, Kyle nodded.

“It’s late, I should get some rest. You should too.”

Kyle bobbed his head.

Lyla turned and returned to her room.

Kyle stood there, watching her receding figure with longing and affectionate eyes. However, he was well aware that the distance between him and this woman could not be caught up to within a few years.

His eyes spoke of obscurity.

…...

“What did you say?” Delilah threw a question at her secretary.

The secretary could not bear to break the news to her. “It’s true. Mr. Pattinson has been occupied with this matter for the past few days.”

Color drained from Delilah’s face. Such a situation had never occurred to her.

She had returned.

She was back.

Delilah had the confidence to take down any woman by Mark’s side except her...

She knew it was impossible.

That was where Mark drew the line and was taboo of his. He could die for her. How could Delilah compare?

Looking as though her soul left her body, Delilah was at a loss for what to do.

Sure, the past few days had all been for show, but Delilah took the make-believe as reality. She took the foreseen outcome for granted and never would have thought that a dead person would come back to life...

This was something she had never considered.

Sitting on one side, Delilah was stunned beyond words.

While observing Delilah, the secretary’s heart went out to her, but she had no clue how to console her. “Ms. Collins...”

“I’m fine,” Delilah uttered.

“What do you plan to do?”

“Hehehe.” Delilah let out a faint laugh. “What can I do? She’s back so what else is there to do? In his mind, I don’t even amount to a single ounce of her. What can I do?”

The secretary felt sorry for her. “You can compete with her on even ground. There’s nothing you can’t have in this world, unless you don’t fight for it.”

“Fairness doesn’t exist between me and her. I’d only be humiliating myself if I put up a fight.”

“So you’re planning on giving up?”

Delilah lowered her gaze as she dwelled in despair. What could she do besides throw in the towel?

“Don’t tell me you don’t want to meet with that woman?” The secretary probed.

With this brought up, Delilah paused before lifting her head to stare at the secretary.

“Perhaps she’s not the kind person we imagine she is. I find it hard to believe that a dead woman would come back alive. Maybe she’s a fake?” The secretary asked.

What she said made some sense.

Pursing her lips, Delilah was lost in her thoughts.

The secretary continued to give her input until Delilah finally nodded. “You’re right.”

…...

Lyla was surprised to get a call from Delilah. Nevertheless, she kept to the appointment.

In a cafe.

Delilah was already waiting by the time Lyla arrived. Recognizing the woman through the photos, Lyla headed straight over.

Although Delilah had prepared herself mentally, she still broke out in cold sweat the moment Lyla walked over.

The reason was because Lyla was really beautiful.

Not only was she a sight to behold, but there was also such a commanding presence to her.

Lyla was the complete opposite of how Delilah envisioned her.

“Hello.” Lyla drew close and greeted Delilah.

Snapping out of her thoughts, Delilah gazed at her. “Please sit.”

Lyla sat down.

It was hard to discern what was going through Lyla’s mind by the faint look on her face.

For a moment, Delilah had no idea how to break the silence.

“I believe you know who I am?” Delilah asked.

Lyla gave a nod. “I do.”

Still dumbfounded, Delilah stared at her. “So, you’re Lyla Lowe?”

Lyla bobbed her head. “Yes, I am.”

Delilah nodded her head. “Do you want to order a drink?”

“Coffee is fine.”
