Chapter 346 Daddy Just About Lost It

The next day.

It was nighttime.

Delilah’s birthday proceeded as planned.

Mark booked a hotel room and invited her over.

The Collins’ residence.

Sitting in front of the dressing table, Delilah cleaned herself up through the view of the mirror.

Although she was fully aware that she had to keep away from Mark, Delilah still could not help herself.

There was no way she could say no to an invitation from him.

Well, it was her fault for liking this man. Despite being the man that he was, she was lost in her deep love for him.

It took a while before Ms. Davis entered the room. She gazed at Delilah with a smile across her lips. “Miss Collins, you’re so beautiful today.”

Delilah returned a grin as she looked back at Ms. Davis. “Caty, do you think I should go?” She asked.

“Go if it’s what you desire.”

“But I know that it’s wrong to do so.”

“What’s not right about it? Ms. Collins, life’s too short. There’s nothing wrong with pursuing what you love. Moreover, it’s not your fault. Mark’s the one who came looking for you. Those two will only suffer without any feelings between them. Your only mistake was the timing to go after the person you like. What’s so wrong about that?” Ms. Davis retorted.

Caught in a moment, Delilah had no words to refute.

At last, she nodded. “Okay, I got it.”

“Ms. Collins, go chase after him if you like him so.” Ms. Davis added.

Ms. Davis was right on one point. They had no more feelings for each other...

Perhaps Mark had finally seen the good in her...

In that case, why should she not go for it?

Having been through a lot in her life, Delilah did not want to let slip the love of her life.

With that in mind, all doubts were lost as she became resolute.

...

At the hotel entrance.

With Ms. Davis dropping her off, Delilah turned to her. “You should head back. I’ll call you if there’s anything.”

The secretary gave a nod.

Hence, Delilah glanced at the main entrance before striding in.

Hurt flickered past Ms. Davis’ eyes as she stared at Delilah’s receding figure.

Standing at the hotel entrance, Delilah worked up the courage to ring the doorbell.

The door was soon opened. Dressed in black pants and a white shirt, Mark appeared before her. It was just an ordinary plain suit, yet somehow, there was just something about him — kind of wild and sexy.

“You’re here.” He curled his lips.

Having always felt inferior in his presence, Delilah became nervous and bobbed her face. “Yes.”

“You’re gorgeous today,” he remarked.

Delilah turned red in the face.

Without another word, Mark swung the door open. “Come in.”

Taking a look inside, Delilah took a deep breath and stepped in.

Mark closed the door behind him. Nevertheless, he was not in a rush to go over. Instead, he took a moment to himself before heading in.

Delilah, on the other hand, was taken aback the moment she walked through the door.

Candles were placed all over the room and roses were displayed in a heart shape.

She was surprised beyond words by this scene.

No one had ever done this for her before. Mark was the first...

“You...”

“Happy birthday!” Mark came from behind while bearing a bouquet of roses in his hands.

Delilah fixated on him. He was without flowers before. Where did the bouquet come from?

Anyway, where it came from was not important. The focus should be the flowers and the fact that it was a gift from Mark.

Right there and then, exciting feelings flushed all her sanity away. Without any regrets, she drew close.

“Thank you,” she uttered.

“I can only celebrate with you this way because I didn’t want to cause you any trouble. Thank you for coming,” Mark said.

He was the embodiment of elegance and gentility.

Delilah’s heart was racing at the sight of Mark. Oh, how she wished she could hug him.

However, she did not.

Delilah was still the shy type.

“Come, let’s have something to eat,” Mark uttered.

She turned her gaze to the table at the side. It was a candlelit dinner. Mark had everything prepared.

This was the first birthday since she came of age. It was impossible not to feel touched.

Drawing near, the pair sat opposite each other.

“Steak, medium-rare. Am I right?” Mark enquired with a smile.

Delilah looked at him. “You remember?”

“Of course, I do. Although I hadn’t eaten out with you much, I kept in mind details that I should,” Mark replied.

Delilah was completely swayed by emotions.

Surely he had feelings for her to remember all these.

Delilah was tempted to ask, but she simply could not.

She was not in the position to enquire further.

Delilah was too afraid to put an end to the present state, leaving herself without the room for a measly fantasy.

“I know I have done a lot of hurt to you in the past, but I hope you can put everything aside today, at least the thing between us. Today, I just want you to have a great birthday,” he uttered.

His words seemed to work like magic as Delilah could not stop herself from responding.

She nodded.

Letting out a wicked smile, Mark got up to pour her a glass of red wine.

“Here’s to a great birthday and a lifetime of happiness,” Mark raised his glass and wished her.

Delilah bobbed her head. “Thank you.”
