Chapter 36 Mark’s Condition

The next day, Lyla went to find Mark with the information right after she reached the company.

Lyla had not been planning on having much contact with him. She just wanted to complete her job, but things did not turn out the way she wanted.

She had so many complaints, but she could not do anything at all.

When she came to the president’s office, she felt an indescribable uneasiness.

She had promised not to provoke him anymore, but now…

Sigh!

After she knocked on the door, a deep and husky voice came from inside. “Come in.”

When Lyla entered the office, she saw a scene.

The tall Mark was standing in front of a French window with both of his hands in his pockets. He was seemingly immersed in his thoughts. This man could captivate others with just his figure. Lyla was not sure if it was an illusion or what, but he seemed a little helpless and lonely right then.

There were times when this invincible man felt helpless as well?

Mark turned around after Lyla gave a little cough.

He glanced at Lyla with his deep eyes. “Is there anything I can help you with?”

The helplessness instantly disappeared. It gave Lyla the illusion that she had mistaken it earlier.

“Of course there’s something you can help me with when I come to find you, Mr. Pattinson,” Lyla softly said.

Mark moved his long legs and slowly walked to the sofa. Then, he leaned against it lazily. “Tell me, what can I help you with?”

Lyla walked over and passed him a document. “Please have a look at this, Mr. Pattinson.”

Mark raised his eyebrows and flipped the document open. It was the case that Kathleen had given to her. He already knew about it. “Didn’t Kathleen give you this case already?”

“Everything is ready except for one crucial item,” Lyla said indifferently. “Your sky blue diamond, Mr. Pattinson.”

Mark frowned, and his eyes turned cold instantly. He raised his head and looked at Lyla with his unfathomable eyes.

“Who told you that I have a sky blue diamond?”

“Of course I would know about this. M.K. Corporation and J.P. Corporation are competitors. J.P. Corporation has handed this case to M.K. Corporation, and if we can’t complete it, we’ll be the industry’s laughing stock. We could complete it, but no one from M.K. Corporation has seen it before. That’s mainly why you have been ignoring this case!” Lyla guessed.

As Mark listened to Lyla’s words, he pursed his lips and wore a faint smile. He seemed merciful and merciless at the same time.

“Are you that sure?”

“Based on your personality, you wouldn’t ignore someone’s provocation!”

“You know me that well?”

“Somewhat. I have to figure out my superior’s temperament when I work here.” Lyla was stunned for a moment, but she immediately smiled and answered him.

Mark looked at Lyla. The woman in front of him always smiled. Her bright and clear eyes prevented others from knowing her real thoughts. Her smile seemed to be her secret weapon as well as her best shield!

As his thin lips curled up, he appeared ruthless and cold. He got straight to the point. “Even if I have it, why should I give it to you?”

Lyla was shocked. “What kind of notion is that, Mr. Pattinson? You’re contributing to the company, not to me. Besides, I work for the company too.”

“This is your scope of work. The sky blue diamond is my personal belonging. I don’t have to contribute it for the company’s sake or for any private purpose!”

“You’ll just let the company suffer a loss then, Mr. Pattinson?”

“The loss is nothing to me!”

…

Lyla realized that this man was very difficult to deal with.

“I don’t care about this case at all, but to you, it’s a matter of proving your ability!” Mark smirked and slowly approached her with a determined expression.

There was a faint scent of tobacco on his body, which was very manly.

Lyla blushed when she smelled the scent, and she casually dodged it.
