Chapter 50 Throw a Long Line and Fish for a Rich Man

For some reason, after she heard the news, her heart trembled for a moment. She was a mother as well, so she naturally understood just how important familial ties were.

But this was a common tactic used in the business world.

Lyla looked at him, and her gaze was slightly complicated, but there was also admiration in them. “How certain are you that Mars will agree to it?”

“I’ve already succeeded, haven't I?” Mark Pattinson spoke as confidently as he usually did.

Lyla really wanted to roll her eyes at him. This man was really… confident in every aspect.

She quirked her eyebrows. “I didn’t expect you to use familial relationships to convince others to work with you, Mr Pattinson!”

“You can only win your fights if you know your enemy. This is a mutually beneficial relationship. I will give him what he needs, and he'll make it easier for me to work. I won’t take advantage of him,” Mark Pattinson said and added, “I didn’t use any despicable methods.”

Lyla looked at him. She had to admit, he had his methods, and he lived to his current status.

Lyla nodded. Then, she remembered something. “Then, Mr Pattinson, you used my copyrighted work. How are you going to settle the accounts for that?” Lyla looked at him and asked.

He had not expected her to seek compensation for that, so Mark Pattinson turned his head around to look at him. He smiled faintly. “How do you want it settled?”

Lyla smiled. “You handed my copyrighted work to someone else on your own, and I can’t get it back now. I’m not an unreasonable person. If that’s the case, I might as well sell it to you.” This project would definitely help Mark Pattinson earn quite a lot of money, and she should not be going overboard asking for a small share.

“How much do you want?” Mark Pattinson asked faintly.

Lyla thought about it and extended her palm. “I believe that you will not earn just a little money.”

Mark Pattinson nodded. “Does that price include you selling yourself to me?”

Lyla found herself speechless.

“Mr Pattinson, could you be a little more serious?”

“I’m being very serious!”

Lyla rolled her eyes at him. She could not hold back from giving him this one appraisal. ‘How petty.’

The richer a person was, the pettier he or she would be. This was true.

At that moment, Mark Pattinson could not help but say, “Ms Lowe, don’t forget that you’re currently working in MK. All your designs will be processed by MK. Hence, you belong to MK, and it’s only logical that you give yourself to MK!”

Lyla said nothing.

She originally thought about extorting Mark Pattinson so that she could get a good house for her children, but now, she could forget about it.

She pouted and made a sarcastic quip in her heart, but she said nothing.

As Mark Pattinson looked at her, he narrowed his eyes. “Ms Lowe, there is one way…”

“What is it?” Lyla looked at him.

Mark Pattinson stared at him, and his beautiful features morphed into a charming smile. “You can throw a line and fish for a rich man…”

When she saw him drawing closer, Lyla was stunned. When she saw his smile, she really… did not know how to describe it.

In the next second, Lyla spoke, “I don’t fish.”

Once she finished speaking, she immediately moved away from him.

She looked as if she was fleeing in panic.

Mark Pattinson produced a profound smile.

He looked at his watch. It was now 5:40 PM. He did not even realize it, but they had been negotiating for more than two hours, and it should be time for them to clock off work now.

“Mr Pattinson, since we’re done with our work, I’ll be heading home first.” As Lyla said this, she wanted to get out of the car.

“Who allowed you to leave?” Mark Pattinson suddenly asked.

“But I’m already done with work.”

“Who said that?”

Lyla was speechless. Mark Pattinson drove his car and left with her.

Lyla wanted to go back, but Mark Pattinson refused to let her go. He insisted on only letting her go after they ate. Lyla could not refute, so she decided to just move along with his flow.

When she went back home, it was already a quarter past eight. Mark Pattinson drove to her residential area.

“Mr Pattinson, thank you for the dinner. Goodbye.” Once they arrived at her place, Lyla grabbed her handbag and tried to get out of the car.

But before she opened the car door, Mark Pattinson grabbed her and pushed her back on her seat.

“Why are you in such a hurry to leave?” Mark Pattinson looked at her and asked coldly.

Lyla looked at him. She first frowned before she put on a harmless smile. “I’m already at my house. Shouldn’t I leave?”

The moment he saw Lyla’s smile, Mark Pattinson became even angrier.

This woman always put up this harmless smile. When she faced him, she would always give this fake smile. But when she faced other people, she could smile happily, naturally, and beautifully!

Mark Pattinson found himself very displeased about it!

Suddenly, Mark Pattinson fell silent. But his profound gaze was like a huge suction cup that sucked in her gaze. They shone with a black and dangerous light as he stared at her fiercely.

Lyla stared at him as well. As she looked into his eyes, she found herself taken aback.

Could he not look at her this way?

Mark Pattinson drew closer to her slowly, to the point that he was so close that Lyla almost held her breath. What exactly was this man thinking about?

“So, will you think about what I said?” Suddenly, Mark Pattinson stopped in front of her, narrowed his eyes, and asked with a smile.

“What you said?” Lyla found herself confused.

“Throwing a long line to fish for a rich man…”
