Chapter 132 Gretel’s Acting

Seeing that Lyla still did not respond, Gretel frowned and continued to burrow into her arms. “Mummy, I’m scared!”

Lyla was bewildered. ‘Sigh, what’s Gretel up to this time?’

She forced her eyes open sleepily, she looked at Gretel. “Gretel, what are you doing?”

“Mummy, I’m scared!” Gretel acted till the very end, appearing pitiful and afraid. Her lovely face that held a striking resemblance to Lyla had an indescribable realism to it.

Lyla frowned. “What are you up to?”

She had never seen Gretel act like this before.

She was truly at her wit’s end.

“Mummy, there’s fierce and evil people causing trouble outside. I’m scared!” Gretel said. With her vivid and realistic expression, it really was a shame that she was not an actress.

Lyla frowned at that. “Someone’s out there? Who?”

“I don’t know, but they’re really fierce. I’m scared!” She continued burrowing herself into Lyla’s embrace.

Seeing how Gretel seemed to be telling the truth, Lyla frowned. “Are you serious?”

Gretel nodded.

“Where’s your Daddy?”

“Daddy said he went to the company!”

Damn it.

He could have left at any time, but he chose this moment to be absent.

Lyla’s expression sank. She got out of bed and headed outside. “Wait here and don’t come out!”

“Mummy, don’t go! I’m scared!” Gretel continued to cry.

If Lyla found out that this was just an act, she would definitely throttle this daughter of hers. Gretel’s acting was too damn realistic!

Lyla walked out and looked around. There was no one, but from where she was standing on the stairs, she could see that the outside was in chaos.

However, the people Gretel mentioned were not there!

“Mummy…” At that time, Gretel jumped out and hugged Lyla, pretending to be frightened.

“Mummy, don’t go!”

At that moment, Lyla truly believed what Gretel said. In her opinion, Gretel would not tell a lie like this without a good reason. Although this girl learned how to lie through her teeth since she was young, it would not be so sudden.

“Don’t be afraid. I’ll go outside and take a look. You wait in the room for me!”

Gretel shook her head. “No, I wanna be with Mummy!”

Seeing her, Lyla shook her head helplessly and had no choice but to bring her along.

From the second floor to the first floor, Lyla looked around vigilantly. Although Gretel was holding onto Lyla, she was very into her acting and also looked around, as if something really happened.

From where they stood, they could already see outside through the French windows. The scene was chaotic, but there was no one around.

Lyla mustered up the courage to go outside. “Mummy…”

“It’s okay!”

Lyla patted her and slowly walked towards the outside.

“Do you know who they were?” Lyla asked.

“I don’t know, but they were wearing black clothes, and they were super ugly!” Gretel evaluated.

Lyla. “...”

That was what her daughter had always said about people.

Walking up to the door, Lyla carefully opened the door, but the outside was empty.

She frowned. “Did they leave?”

Too many things happened in this short period, so Lyla did not doubt the authenticity of what Gretel said. Instead, she wondered what kind of people it had been.

If they found this place, it proved that they knew that Mark Pattinson bought the house, yet they still dared to come and cause trouble. Were they here for Mark?

Lyla could not figure it out.

At that moment, the rumble of an engine sounded as a car parked outside. Mark got out of the car and saw the two people standing outside.

He looked at the disarrayed surroundings and frowned. “Lyla, Gretel!” He called out.

Lyla was also looking around when she heard his voice. When she saw Mark as she turned around, a strange feeling of relief welled up in her.

“Daddy!” Gretel immediately let go of Lyla and dashed towards Mark upon seeing him.

Mark picked her up and looked at her in concern. “What happened? Are you okay?”

Gretel shook her head. “I’m okay, just a little scared!”

Mark rubbed her head. “You’re safe now!” Then, he carried her and walked toward Lyla. “How about you? Are you alright?”

Lyla shook her head. “I’m fine!”

Then, she looked around. “What a shame!”

“Those aren’t important. What’s important is that the two of you are safe!” Mark’s expression turned dark.

His words were reasonable and made Lyla feel very comfortable.

“By the way, who were they?” Mark asked.

Lyla shook her head. “I don’t know!”

“Hansel called me and said that a man was looking for you. You don’t know him?” Mark asked.

A man?

Lyla frowned.

Then, she shook her head. “I don’t know. Gretel said there were a bunch of fierce and evil men outside, but by the time I came out, they were all gone!”

……

Something was not right.

At that moment, the two turned to look at Gretel. She also started to get nervous, recalling how she had not matched her story with Hansel.

“There was a man who had been standing outside, but he didn’t say anything and left. Then, several people came over and kept pounding at the door, and made a mess of the yard!” Gretel said. After saying that, she admired herself in her heart. She was too good at ad-libbing.

This line was flawless.

Listening to Gretel’s words, Mark and Lyla looked at each other, both wondering who that person was.
