Chapter 133 Sacrificing The Pawn To Save The Queen

Leaving from that place, Hansel returned to the Alpine City base and had a simple meeting with them before preparing to go back.

Piers insisted for Hansel to stay for dinner, but Hansel knew that something might happen if he did not go back. Thus, he let Piers send him home.

When he went back, Mark, Lyla, and Gretel were all waiting in the living room with serious looks, seemingly waiting for him.

He saw their stern faces as soon as he walked in through the door. Thinking, he smiled and opened his mouth. “Daddy, Mummy, you’re both here. Have you eaten?”

Lyla hooked her finger at him. “Come here!”

Hansel did not dare to say anything and immediately went over. “What’s wrong, Mummy?”

“Where did you go today?”

“Oh, something came up with a friend, so I went!”

“Your sister said you went shopping!”

Hansel glanced at Gretel sitting quietly by the side and not daring to say anything, having the look of someone who had been subdued.

“Oh, it’s like this. I went out shopping but ran into my friend and we went together, then I called to tell Gretel!” Hansel lied without any trace of guilt.

This pair of siblings, one was suitable to become a screenwriter, and the other was suitable as an actor.

They really were a perfect match.

“Is that so?” Lyla asked.

“Yep!”

He said so firmly that his lying skills were even more skillful than Lyla’s.

“Do you know that someone came to the house to cause trouble today?” Lyla continued to ask.

At that, Hansel nodded and then shook his head.

“What do you mean by nodding then shaking your head?”

“Gretel called me, so I knew!” Hansel said.

“Weren’t you worried at all?”

“I called Daddy and asked him to come back!” Hansel immediately shirked his responsibility. In any case, he did call Mark.

Seeing him push the buck to Mark, Lyla said, “Even if you did call your Daddy, aren’t you worried about us at all?”

“With Daddy around, what’s there to worry about?” Hansel grinned. His words definitely seemed like he was flattering Mark.

Okay!

Seeing that he was able to argue, Lyla continued, “Then, what did you do outside?”

“Some stuff!”

“What stuff?”

Hansel looked at Lyla. Mummy rarely asked for so many details. Did something happen? Did Mummy know something?”

“Some computer stuff!”

“People will come to you about computers?”

Hansel. “...”

He was considering whether or not to say.

He glanced at Mark who was sitting on the side, looking like he had no intention of helping Hansel. Hansel also believed that Mark was able to more or less find today’s matters strange.

Thus, he absolutely could not rely on Daddy now. Perhaps Daddy was even sitting and waiting for him to come clean.

There was no point in Gretel saying anything either because Mummy trusted him more than her.

Looking at the current situation, he could only sacrifice the pawns to save the queen.

Seeing Hansel remain silent, it was clear that he was deliberating. Although he was not as quick-witted as Gretel, what he said had to be taken with a grain of salt.

“Why aren't you talking?” Lyla asked.

Hansel looked at her. “Mummy, if I tell you a secret, will you be angry?”

“How would I know if I’d be angry or not if you don’t say it?” Lyla was not easy to fool. She would not pardon him before she learned the truth.

Mark watched from the side, also wondering how Hansel would handle this situation.

Hansel and Gretel were definitely hiding something from them.

As for what, he still was not clear, so they had to unravel it bit by bit.

“But Mummy, if you don’t promise me not to get mad, how would I dare to say it?!” Hansel pretended to be weak and asked Lyla.

“Save the theatrics and just spill it!”

“Sigh!” Hansel sighed. “Well, it’s like this. Mummy, I’m probably a little more familiar with computers than you think!”

Lyla frowned slightly. “What does that mean?”

“It means, I may, probably, have a gift, in some ways!” Hansel drawled out.

“Be specific!”

When Hansel said this, Gretel immediately understood. They were twins and knew what each other were thinking. If Hansel said this, it meant that he was going to abandon the pawns to save the queen.

“Mummy, Hansel means that he’s not only familiar with computers. He’s actually a hacker!” Gretel said.

Her words were too timely.

Hansel secretly gave her a thumbs up in his heart.

As expected, their minds were connected.

Those words would not be convincing if Hansel said it, but if Gretel said it, it was much more convincing.

“Hacker?” Lyla frowned. Although she did not understand specifically what a hacker meant, she had a general knowledge about what they did.

Hansel nodded.

Gretel nodded.

Lyla blinked owlishly. Did she hear wrong or something?
