Chapter 167 Probably Sleepwalked

It was very early. Breakfast was ready and they all went over to the dining table to eat.

Not long after Mark sat down, his phone rang. He looked at it and connected the call.

His face was slightly sunken as he said, "Okay, I know!"

After a brief sentence, he hung up, then stood up and looked at the group.

"You guys enjoy the meal. I need to head out."

Seeing that Mark was going to leave, Hansel asked, "Is that news about Mommy?"

Mark froze, then said, "We'll talk about it when I get back."

After saying that, he looked at Lingo and said, "I’ll leave them to you."

Lingo was very hungry, but she still ate gracefully. After hearing Mark's words, she made an okay gesture without lifting her head.

Mark knew that even without his instructions, Lingo would still protect them.

Once Mark left, they continued to eat breakfast.

......

On the other side.

Lyla woke up in a daze. It was dark all around her as she was blindfolded.

She wanted to move but found that her hands and feet were tied, so she could not budge.

What happened?

Her head was blank. Her hands and feet were cold, and she felt a little scared.

Lyla wanted to speak, but also found that her mouth was taped.

She did not feel any pain, so she knew that she was not injured and still safe for the time being.

Lyla tried hard to recall what happened earlier. When she was in the taxi, she noticed that something was not right and called Mark. The driver then stopped the car and drugged her.

So...

She was kidnapped?

Learning this fact, Lyla did not know how she felt.

Why would this happen to her?

Who was the person who kidnapped her and what was their motive?

She was clueless.

Lyla did not know where she was, but she felt something soft underneath her, so it should not be as bad as she thought.

She tried to move, but after a long time, she still did not manage to. At that moment, she heard footsteps and stopped moving instantly.

Listening to the movement outside, she could hear the door being pushed open and someone walking in.

It was terrifying not being able to see what was going on. Lyla was anxious as she did not know what the kidnappers wanted from her, so she did not dare to move.

"Do you think she’s awake?"

"I don't think so!"

Then, the room once again fell into silence.

Lyla frowned and thought, ‘It’s a woman? Who could it be?’

Other than Kathleen Turner, she did not offend anyone else. This voice was not Kathleen’s either, so who could it be?

At that moment, Lyla moved and made a sound, signaling for them to take that thing off her mouth.

A man spoke up, "She's awake! She seems to have something to say!"

The woman said, "Take the thing off her mouth!"

The man nodded, went up, and tore the tape off Lyla's mouth.

It hurt like hell.

Lyla moved her lips and looked in front as she felt the person’s presence.

"Who are you?"

In return, the woman asked slyly, "Since you’re blindfolded, do you think I’ll tell you who I am?"

Lyla said, "I don’t think I have a grudge with you, right?"

"Oh...what? Are you trying to catch me off guard?"

"What do you want? Money, or--?"

"You mean to tell me that you’re rich?"

"I just want to know what you want!"

The corner of the woman's mouth curled up as she said, "You'll know what’s my purpose soon enough!"

Listening to her voice, Lyla frowned. She wanted to see who the person in front of her truly was, but she was blindfolded and could not see anything.

Through this short conversation, she still could not figure out anything about the person in front of her.

"No matter what your motive is, I just want to tell you that it’s against the law for you to do this!"

"Do you think I didn’t know about this before I did this to you?" The woman asked rhetorically.

It looked like she was a tough one to deal with.

No matter what Lyla said, the woman opposite her remained calm as if nothing she said could agitate her.

"Oh really? It seems that you’re so confident you can get away with this!"

The person opposite her did not respond. Lyla smirked and said, "Then let me tell you this. No matter what’s your motive, you won't be able to achieve it… and I think that I'll be out of here very soon!"

"You seem very confident!"

"Of course!"

"Well then, we'll see what happens!"

After saying that, the person turned around and walked away.

"Where are you going? Let go of me!" Lyla shouted, but no matter how she shouted or screamed, she only heard the sound of the door opening and closing.

Lyla kept shouting relentlessly. At that time, someone came in and said, "I’m warning you. Even if you shout until your throat is dry, no one can hear you, so I advise you to save your breath. If you make noise again, I’ll seal your mouth!"

As such, Lyla immediately stopped talking.

She knew not to push her limits and that it was more important to wait for the right opportunity. If she could not see or speak, she could only wait for death.

Seeing that Lyla was silent, the man coldly snorted and walked out.

The room once again returned to silence.

She laid on the bed and could not help but sigh. She always thought that she was smarter than others, but she could not even get a hint from the conversation earlier.
