Chapter 172 Confess Their Love

The corners of Hansel's mouth hooked up in a mischievous smile and said, "The time has come to witness true love!"

"Uh, what do you mean?"

"You'll find out later!"

Hansel then gestured to Gretel and the two of them walked out of the room.

Seeing him being so mysterious, Gretel quietly followed him out.

After Lyla left the room, she caught a nurse and asked, "Which room is Mark Pattinson in?"

"Mark Pattinson? Which one?"

"The one who was badly injured! He was sent in with me."

"Sorry, I'm not too sure!"

Lyla continued to ask others, walking around the corridor like a headless chicken. Gretel was just about to walk up when Hansel stopped her and said, "Don't move!"

"You’re just going to let Mommy go around like this?"

Hansel said with a smile, "This is the only way to see if Mommy has feelings for Daddy, isn't it?"

Gretel saw his face and seemed to understand what he was onto. She then nodded and said, "That's right!"

Thus, the two of them secretly hid on the side of the corridor to keep an eye on Lyla until she managed to inquire about Mark's ward. Lyla finally walked into Mark’s room and the twins followed quietly from behind.

Inside the ward.

The moment Lyla walked in, she suddenly felt a calmness and sadness that she never experienced before.

She walked into the room step by step and saw Mark, who was lying on the hospital bed. His eyes were tightly closed and his face was pale. He no longer had that debauched and unbeatable look. Seeing him like this, Lyla felt a touch of sadness rising from the bottom of her heart.

Her mind kept replaying the scene of how they met and got to know each other. Everything flashed across her eyes, including the scene when they were in the fire, what he said and did for her...

Tears streamed down Lyla’s face uncontrollably.

Her hands trembled as she slowly caressed Mark’s face and said, "You fool...why did you want to do that? Was it worth it? I’ve been so mean to you, why would you risk your life to save me?"

Lyla looked at him and asked.

However, there was only silence all around her.

"Mark Pattinson, you need to be fine! You must! You said that you’ll cling onto me forever...since you promised me, you must wake up!"

Lyla was extremely terrified. She was afraid that Mark no longer existed in this world, that this person would never appear in her life again and would never bother her anymore.

She was scared.

Extremely scared.

Lyla sat by Mark's bedside while tears rolled down her face like broken beads. It was a look that Hansel and Gretel had never seen before.

At that time, Mark opened his eyes slowly and asked, "Lyla Lowe, were you just confessing your love to me?"

Lyla was stunned as she looked at Mark and muttered, "You--"

Mark’s pale lips curled up into a weak smile, then said, "I'm not dead yet!"

"You...you're okay?"

"What? Did you want something to happen to me?!"

Lyla immediately shook her head and said, "No..."

"I was going to take a nap, but I heard you speak and can’t fall asleep!"

Lyla was speechless.

‘So, he heard it all?’

Lyla's cheeks blushed in an instant, then she said, "I'll go get the doctor!"

After saying that, she got up and was about to leave.

At the same time, a hand grabbed her.

Lyla turned around and met Mark's deep eyes. She asked, "What's wrong?"

"What you just said, it seemed like you weren’t finished..."

"I...I didn't say anything!"

"Is that so?"

"Yes!"

"You were clearly confessing your love to me just now!"

"You heard it wrong!"

"Lyla, why do you have to deny your feelings for me?"

Lyla was silent.

She did not know either.

Whenever she faced Mark, she would always retreat, but she did not know what she was afraid of.

Mark grabbed her hand and said, "You're obviously worried about me and afraid of losing me, right?"

Lyla looked at him, pursed her lips, and did not speak.

Mark wanted to get up, but he accidentally pulled his wound and winced in pain. Lyla saw it and looked at him with concern, asking, “What’s wrong? Are you hurt?”

However, in the next second, Mark suddenly reached out to wrap his arms around her and kissed her on the lips.

Despite his injury, this kiss was strong and full of passion.

Lyla's eyes widened in shock, but she did not move nor push him away. This kiss reminded her of the time in the fire...

Some time passed before Mark let go of her and looked at her affectionately. He said, "Lyla, admit it. You love me. I don't know what you're worried about or what you're afraid of, but I’m telling you that in this life, don't even think about leaving me!"
