Chapter 174 Father-Son War

Lyla looked at Mark and asked, "What are you doing?"

Mark answered frankly, "I’m resting!"

"Go back to your own bed to rest!"

"It’s all the same anyway."

Lyla was speechless.

Seeing Mark’s insufferable face, Lyla really wanted to kick him off the bed.

As if Mark had read her mind, he quickly let out a hiss before she did anything to him.

Lyla saw this and immediately looked at him with concern. She asked, "What's wrong?"

"I think I accidentally touched my wound..."

Lyla leaned over and looked at his back, where there was still a thick layer of bandages. She recalled the way he saved her that day vividly.

She suddenly felt soft-hearted and felt his pain. She asked, "Is it alright? Do you want me to call a doctor?"

As she said this, she got down from the bed.

However, Mark seized the opportunity to grab her and pulled her into his arms. He said, "No, just let me hold you like this for a while."

Lyla raised her eyes, her gaze full of suspicion, and asked, "You're not lying to me, are you?"

"I wouldn’t dare to lie to you! It really hurts, but even a good doctor isn’t as good as you."

Lyla did not know what to say to that.

She did not move as Mark hugged her because she was afraid it might agitate his wounds again, so she just let him hold her.

"Mark Pattinson!"

"Hmm?"

"Do you think it’s appropriate for us to be like this?"

"Yeah, what's wrong?"

"This is a hospital!"

"So what if it’s a hospital?"

"Someone might come in any minute!"

"It's okay, I've got this ward covered. I’ve instructed them to knock on the door when they come in!"

Lyla was speechless again.

She somehow felt that it was all part of Mark’s plan and suddenly felt that she was treading in dangerous waters.

"But it’s still not appropriate for us to be like this in the hospital!"

"We’re a married couple, so no one will say anything about us no matter where and what we do. Don’t worry!"

"Fine."

No matter what Lyla said, Mark would always have a way to argue, so Lyla did not persist and let him hold her. She also felt incredibly warm in her heart.

In the evening.

Mark was still stuck to Lyla.

He kept looking at Lyla dotingly and from time to time, he would kiss her or touch her. He felt incredibly satisfied just like that, like a teenage boy that just went through puberty.

Lyla was helpless. She finally knew why they said that men never grow up.

It had been so long since she felt this way, helpless and happy at the same time.

Justin Pattinson came over in the evening.

His brow furrowed after he saw Mark lying on the hospital bed with Lyla sitting there.

Justin coldly snorted, "You’re still the same even in the hospital!"

Mark, however, was not bothered. He no longer cared about what his father said.

"Dad, is that what you came here to say?"

"What? I can’t even nag you now?"

"If you came here just to say that, then I’d advise you to save your time and breath!"

"You--"

Justin was furious because Mark had talked back to him.

Lyla, on the other hand, sat on her bed and pretended she did not hear a thing. She just kept looking at the magazine in her hand.

It seemed like their existence had nothing to do with her.

The more she looked like this, the more infuriated Justin became and said, "Ha! You’re really not an ordinary person. You got pregnant before marriage and now you’re staying in the same ward. Aren’t you afraid of being a laughing stock if word gets out?"

Lyla frowned slightly. She heard him correctly. Justin was talking about her, right?

She did not participate in the war between the father-son pair, but Justin had attacked her out of the blue, so how could she tolerate this?

Lyla put down the magazine in her hand, lifted her gaze, and looked at Justin as she said, "Chairman, were you talking about me?"

"If not?"

Justin did not try to deny it.

Since he was so straightforward, Lyla had nothing to worry about and continued, "Chairman, although I’m an employee of M.K., you have no right to ask about my private matters, right? Whether I was pregnant before I got married or however shameless I am, all of it doesn’t seem to have anything to do with you, right?"

"You...don't forget that the children you gave birth to belong to the Pattinson family!"

"Chairman, you really know how to crack a joke. They’re my children and I’ve never acknowledged that they’re part of the Pattinson family."

Justin's face changed greatly and asked, "What exactly do you mean?"

"You should ask Mark what it means. If I remember correctly, it was you who said that you’d never acknowledge them as part of the Pattinson family. Yet now you’re saying that they belong to the Pattinson family? Chairman, don't you feel that you’re being contradictory?"

Lyla was so eloquent, that Justin’s expression turned darker as he said, "Yes, I would never acknowledge that they’re part of the Pattinson family!"

"Good, then I’m relieved. Since it has nothing to do with the Pattinson family, then I’d like to ask you not to comment on our affairs so casually. Chairman, please have some respect!"

Lyla smiled throughout the whole ordeal and her righteous face made Justin’s blood boil.

Justin's eyes bulged wide with anger, but he did not know what to say.

Mark was listening on the side with a slight smile at the corner of his mouth. He looked at Lyla with a doting gaze.

"What a lack of manners!"

In the end, Justin only uttered this in exasperation.
