Chapter 185 Lyla Becomes The Center Of Gossip

Logan merely gave a dirty look without saying anything. Truth be told, he was at a loss for words.

Since there was food in front of him, Logan might as well help himself to it.

He looked rather sulky, stuffing the food in his mouth spoon by spoon, yet there was an unspeakable comedy to it.

Hansel let out a comforting smile now that Logan was eating. He disliked Logan but perhaps due to sharing the same blood, Hansel was not completely hostile.

At the very least, it was not to the point that he wanted him dead.

With Logan pigging out, that was one thing settled.

……

Lyla went to bed after having her dinner.

She had a vague feeling that there was someone beside her at around midnight, taking up her space. Thinking that it was a dream, she moved aside a little. However, she felt a figure looming up against her following the slight adjustment of position.

Furrowing her brows, she drew lucid. Nevertheless, she had quite a fright when she opened her eyes to a body right next to her.

“You—”

“Shhh... Don’t be scared. It’s me.” A hoarse and husky voice rang in her ear.

Lyla widened her eyes. What a scare in the middle of the night. She fixated her eyes on the figure and fearfully voiced, “Ma-mark Pattison?”

“It’s me.”

“Aren’t you at the hospital? Why are you here?” Lyla wondered if she was dreaming from oversleeping.

“I’m not used to being alone in the hospital, so I came back.”

“Did-did you sneak out?”

“Yes.”

Lyla replied, “... You’d be in for another lecture if the hospital finds out.”

“Well, it’s not like I have a choice. I can’t sleep without you in sight.”

With Lyla becoming clear-headed, she knew she was not hallucinating. Lyla could not put to words what she was feeling at the moment as Mark snuggled up to her.

“Q-quit it...”

“Shh... I just want to hold you to sleep. Stop talking. I’d be gone in the morning.”

Lyla. “...”

“Let’s sleep. Be good now.”

Lyla was exhausted, and she could tell that Mark was the same. His deep and husky voice was a lullaby to Lyla. Without another word, she closed her eyes and fell asleep.

The next day.

By the time Lyla opened her eyes, there was not a soul in sight next to her.

Sitting up in bed, her mind wandered off to last night. Was it a dream?

However, the feeling was so real.

She grew uncertain the more she thought about it. With that, Lyla got out of bed and freshened up before coming downstairs.

Hansel was already up. He smiled at the presence of Lyla. “Morning, Mommy.”

“Morning.”

“Breakfast is ready.”

“Where are they?”

“They are still in bed. Lingo said that she’s skipping breakfast.”

Lyla nodded. There was no need to ask about Gretel since the little girl must still be deep in slumberland.

She took a seat, ready to start the morning with breakfast when she observed an empty plate before her.

“Have you eaten?” Lyla mentioned in passing.

“No.”

“Oh, what’s this?”

“That’s from Daddy.”

Lyla almost spat out the milk she took a sip out of.

“Mark Pattinson?”

“Yes, I don’t know when Daddy came home. He came down the stairs in the morning. He had something to eat and went back to the hospital,” Hansel said as he carried Lyla’s breakfast to her.

Lyla. “...”

So last night was not a dream?

She absent-mindedly savored her food. Hansel drew close. “Mommy, Daddy told me not to wake you and let you have your rest.”

Faced with Hansel’s teasing eyes, Lyla played it cool as she indulged in her meal. “Oh, really? I’m unaware of that.”

“Really?”

Hansel was conscious of the kind of person his mommy was. She would never admit to this sort of stuff. Hence he did not push the agenda further and uttered, “Mommy, Daddy’s really good to you.”

Lyla was still digging in her breakfast. “What are you trying to say?”

“Since you have acknowledged your feelings for Daddy, shouldn’t you reciprocate Daddy’s affection?”

“Reciprocate his affection?”

“Yes, I got the feeling that you seem to disrelish the fact that you’re together with Daddy,” Hansel answered.

It was said that onlookers saw most of the game. It never occurred to her that Hansel would see through it.

“Is that so?”

“Yes, but the situation is better than before.”

“What do you think I should do?”

“You should at least stop denying your relationship with Daddy and running away from Daddy’s feelings.” Hansel put it well like a young adult.

Lyla looked at him and nodded. “I got it. I see your point.”

Hansel lifted the corner of his lips. “All is not lost.”

Lyla rolled her eyes and smiled.

She may have pushed Mark away so much so Hansel was able to make the observation. He was right. She should try to remove her qualms since accepting him was already in mind.
