Chapter 219 Jump Down From Here

“What’s the hurry? Do you really think you will see her here?” Kathleen asked.

Lyla frowned. “What do you want?”

“Hahaha…” Kathleen sounded bewitching.

“Lyla, your arrival took everything from me, I am what I am now because of you! Are you not guilty at all?!”

Lyla did not agree with what Kathleen said. She stood further away and looked at the woman. “Kathleen, you did this to yourself, you are responsible for your current situation, not anyone else!”

“What did you say?” Kathleen frowned.

“You said I took everything from you, then what exactly did I do? What did I take from you?”

“You took Mark away from me! You made him report on my parents and indirectly murder my baby! It’s all because of you!” Kathleen shouted her lungs out.

“Love cannot be simply taken away, Kathleen. I might be with Mark now but I never did anything to you before! And I never tried to sabotage your family! It was you, you are the one who tried to kill me over and over again but did I do the same?”

“You broke up with Mark because of your jealousy and what you did. Do you really think Mark doesn't know anything? He gave you countless chances but what did you do with them?”

“As for your parents, if they weren’t that harsh, Mark wouldn’t report them. And your baby, let me tell you again, I have nothing to do with that!” Lyla said.

Kathleen reacted differently to Lyla’s words. Lyla sounded like she was telling the truth but Kathleen did not believe her.

“Who could it be other than you? Still trying to argue are we?”

“Believe it or not, it’s the fact!”

Kathleen did not believe a word she said. She was furious and wanted Lyla to feel what she felt.

“I can tell you that I don’t believe anything you said!” Kathleen shouted.

Lyla frowned. She showed a rare sharp gaze as she tried to argue. “Then what do you want?”

“I want you to feel what I felt, the pain and the sadness, starting with your daughter…”

Lyla clenched her fists tightly. “Come at me! Leave her alone, she’s just a child!”

“Child? Your child? Then what about my child? Have you ever thought about my child?!”

“I’m sorry for what you’ve been through. Even if you want to blame me, I didn’t know that you were pregnant before. Shouldn’t you take some responsibility when you decide to come up to me, asking for a fight?” Lyla asked.

Kathleen was silenced and stunned as if she was recalling what happened. She shook her head. “No! It’s not like that!”

She then shouted at Lyla, “It was you! It was all because of you that I ended up like this! It was you!”

Lyla tried to calm herself while Kathleen’s temper was at the boiling point. “Kathleen, I know you miss your child but that was an accident. It will get better. Believe me.”

“Cut the crap, Lyla! I didn’t call you all the way here to listen to your nonsense! I want you to pay for what you did!”

Lyla looked at her. It seemed like Kathleen had regained her senses. She said, “Jump down from here and I’ll let your daughter go.”

She frowned. They were on the rooftop, she would definitely die if she jumped.

Kathleen was smart. If the police investigated her after Lyla’s death, she could simply shift the blame and say Lyla jumped on her own.

Lyla scoffed softly.

“Do you really think you can get away if I jump?”

“That’s none of your business. What you need to do now is jump off the building for your daughter. If you don’t want to, your daughter will take your place.”

Lyla reacted sourly. “Even if you want me to jump, shouldn’t you let me see Gretel first?”

“There’s no need for that.”

“Then why should I believe that you have her?”

“Okay then.” Kathleen raised her phone and tapped the play button.

The video showed that Gretel was tied to a chair and blindfolded.

“Mommy, I’m fine! Don’t believe what she says, Mommy…”

“Gretel!” Lyla took a few steps forward but Kathleen kept her phone away.

“Believe me now?”

Lyla now believed that Kathleen had Lyla.

“Kathleen, she’s just a child!”

“Only one of you can walk away alive. Your choice,” Lyla said nonchalantly.

Lyla took a deep breath. “What should I believe that you will release her once I jump?”

“Because you don’t have a choice!” Kathleen looked at her watch and said, “You only have half an hour. I forgot to tell you that she’s in a very dangerous place. If you keep stalling and I didn’t make it back in time, both you and your daughter can reunite in hell!”

Kathleen had lost her mind.

Lyla looked at the madwoman and told herself not to believe those words, but she could not.

Kathleen has gone out of control, she could do anything now!

Lyla squinted her eyes. “Okay, I’ll jump.”

“Good. Jump now and I’ll go back to save your daughter!”

“I hope that you will keep your promise.”

“Of course, I still have a tiny bit of integrity. If your daughter is the one who survived, I believe she will live the rest of her life in pain… like me.”

Kathleen was so angry that it started to change her looks.

Lyla looked at her and nodded. “Okay.”

“Jump!”

Lyla slowly walked forward. She could reach the edge in a few steps but it felt like she had to walk a hundred meters.

She did not know what she was thinking at the moment, all she did was walk forward.

Then, when she was finally at the edge, a figure came up to the rooftop.

“No!”
