Chapter 252 Alone Time

At that moment, Eileen Dawson walked out of the room. Her face sank as soon as she saw the scene in front of her.

She shouted fiercely, "Jesse Pattinson!"

Jesse’s body trembled in fear when he heard this voice. He looked back at Eileen, then timidly and reluctantly called out, "Grandma..."

Eileen walked downstairs and stood in front of him, then looked at him and coldly shouted, "Come here!"

The little boy said softly, "But I want to play with them..."

"Did you forget what I told you?" Eileen asked loudly. Her gorgeous face looked unbelievably hostile at that moment.

Hansel and Gretel looked at Eileen with their lips pressed together and did not say a word.

Jesse was also silent.

He looked at the twins longingly, then reluctantly went over to Eileen.

His cute baby face looked so aggrieved and pitiable.

Justin saw it and said, "They’re just children playing with each other. Must you be like this?"

Eileen glared at him and said, "It might not matter to you, but it doesn’t mean that I’ve forgotten!"

Justin kept silent.

She still held a grudge over that incident.

Lyla and Mark happened to see all of this as they just walked out of the room.

It seemed that after so long, Eileen's anger still had not dissipated.

The couple looked at each other and walked downstairs.

At that moment, Mark called out, "Jesse!"

After seeing Mark, a smile appeared on Jesse's face as he greeted him. "Uncle Mark..."

"Come here!"

Jesse was just about to walk over, but he suddenly thought of something, then raised his eyes to look at Eileen and stopped in his tracks.

Everyone knew what Jesse was worried and afraid about.

Mark was not bothered. Instead, he smiled and walked over, then said, "It's alright. I’ll take you to play with Hansel and Gretel after dinner, okay?"

Jesse then nodded his head.

His smile towards Lyla and Mark was sincere.

Eileen watched from the side as her rage spread rampantly throughout her heart. Her eyes were also full of hatred.

At that moment, Justin spoke, "Alright, let's eat!"

Hearing his words, everyone went towards the dining table.

Jesse sat opposite the twins. He was happy just to see them even if he could not play with them. A cheeky smile was plastered on his face the entire time.

Lyla was heartbroken when she saw this.

They were all children, but Jesse was lacking so much love compared to the twins.

"Here, eat some of this!"

After saying that, Lyla scooped a spoonful of mashed potatoes for Jesse.

"No need!"

Before the spoon reached Jesse’s plate, Lyla was stopped by Eileen.

Everyone could see Eileen’s determined face, but Lyla did not care as she was being nice to Jesse, not Eileen.

She still placed the mashed potato on Jesse’s plate, but Jesse did not dare to eat it and only looked at Eileen timidly.

Lyla felt bad for Jesse, so she smiled at him and said, "Jesse, you don’t have to gain permission from anyone to eat. Just eat whatever you want. If you don’t like the mashed potato I gave you, then you don’t have to eat it. You don’t have to care what others think!"

Although Lyla said all these to Jesse, she intended it for Eileen.

Eileen heard it and glared at Lyla. She looked upset and said, "Ms. Lowe, mind your own children and don’t meddle in my family matters!"

Lyla looked at her blankly. She did not mind the harshness in her words and said, "Mrs. Pattinson, Jesse’s just a kid, so he needs to have some childhood innocence."

"What are you trying to say?"

Lyla asked, "I know what you're mad about, but don't impose the grudge from the previous generation on the kid. Do you want him to live with your grudge too?"

"You-"

Lyla said, "If I said something that made you uncomfortable, please bear with me, but please just think about what I said. Jesse’s just a kid. Although he’s living in wealth, he lacks confidence compared to other children. You can even say that he’s timid. If this continues, it’s hard to say how Jesse will turn out in the future."

Eileen was initially furious, but after hearing Lyla’s words, she was stunned.

Something suddenly came to her mind and she hesitated.

Justin also did not expect Lyla to say these words. He shot her a glance, then looked at Eileen.

It seemed that these words affected Eileen because her complexion was glum, but she was silent.

Then, Eileen raised her eyes to look at Lyla, but she did not speak and continued to eat.

On the other hand, Jesse was in a dilemma: to eat or not to eat.

He looked at Eileen imploringly and for a moment, Eileen was at a loss.

Lyla then smiled faintly and said, "Jesse, just eat!"

Seeing that Eileen did not object, Jesse smiled and said, "Thanks, Aunty!"

Aunty...

Lyla smiled and did not refuse this title.

The atmosphere at the dining table was much more cordial after that.

Justin spoke, "Okay, let's all eat!"

Mark stretched out his hand and made a small gesture at Lyla under the table. He then whispered in her ear, "That’s my girl!"

Lyla laughed and ignored him.

Hansel and Gretel also let loose.

While eating, they played with Jesse.

Eileen sat there like a statue. She did not join in on the conversation and ate quietly.

At that moment, they could hear an engine roar outside, and shortly after, Logan walked in.

"I'm back..."

After seeing him, Justin put on a stern face and said, "You’re still out and about at this hour? Don’t you know what occasion it is today?"
