Chapter 266 Repenting In Front Of A Grave

Mark’s eyes narrowed at that, not knowing what tricks they were up to this time.

“If you had known that it would come to this, then you shouldn’t have acted like that before!”

Andrew smiled bitterly. “You’re right, it was me who wronged her in the first place, so I implore you, Mr. Pattinson. Please treat Lyla well in the future!”

“Naturally. She’s my woman, so of course I’ll treat her well!” Mark said these words to very deliberately slap Andrew’s face again.

“Yes, I was wrong before, but who hasn’t committed any mistakes in their life?”

“Mr. Lowe is right, but your biggest mistake wasn’t that you turned your back on Lyla’s mother. It’s that you don’t know how to make up for it even though you know your mistake, and continue to commit that same mistake. Then, you offloaded everything on Lyla instead!” Mark said word by word.

That statement made Andrew feel incredibly ashamed.

He hung his head. “I admit that I don’t want to face this mistake, let alone Lyla!”

Hearing this, Mark’s lips pulled up in a cold smile.

He did not know what to say to such an irresponsible man.

At that moment, Andrew raised his eyes and looked at Mark. “Mr. Pattinson, I’ve seen a lot of news about you. Haven’t you done those kinds of things before either?”

“Mr. Lowe, don’t compare me to you. We’re different. First, I’m single. Second, everything I did had mutual consent. Third, I’ve never wronged anyone, and fourth, once I decide to live with a woman for the rest of my life, I won’t change my mind about it!”

Andrew, “...”

He did not know Mark and only heard of him in newspapers and magazines. Even if he had many words to refute, when Mark said something like that, he could not help but believe Mark.

He looked at Mark. “In that case, it seems that Lyla indeed found a good man. Mr. Pattinson, I’m leaving Lyla in your hands. I couldn’t give her a good life, but I believe that you can!”

Mark did not say anything. He did not like Andrew, but he could not say that he disliked him either.

He was just a little angry.

Ever since he found out what kind of life Lyla had been living, he was inexplicably heartbroken.

That was especially true when Lyla gave birth to Hansel and Gretel and had no money. He knew what it was like to be broke. Previously, when he did not have enough money to buy food, he had almost starved to death.

That feeling of desperation should be the same!

Mark was not a magnanimous person, so not blaming them was out of the question.

Andrew saw that Mark remained silent, but he had already said what he should say, so he stood up and prepared to leave.

“Mr. Lowe, don’t you want to hear what I have to say?” Mark suddenly opened his mouth.

Andrew froze for a moment and looked at Mark. He saw disdain and blame in Mark’s eyes and did not expect Mark to continue to talk to him.

He sat back down.

Mark looked at him. “Do you know what kind of person Lyla is?”

Andrew looked at him and pursed his lips, not knowing what to say.

He did not care much about Lyla and did not know at all.

Mark grew even angrier, but he held back. “She’s firm in speech but soft in heart. All she wants is a confession from you. Back then, it was you who failed her mother. Nevermind that fact that you didn’t feel any remorse, you even married that woman before Lyla could finish grieving. Have you considered her feelings before?” Mark asked.

Andrew pursed his lips, speechless.

“Not only did you not consider her feelings, when she lost her mother and needed someone to take care of her and comfort her, but you also gave her the cold shoulder. It would be weird if she didn’t hate you!”

Andrew continued to purse his lips, not knowing what to say.

“When the stepmother mocked and scolded her, you turned a blind eye and pretended not to see. What do you think she would think?”

Andrew was silent.

At that, Mark restrained his urge to beat her up. “Do you know how I felt after learning of all this?”

Andrew looked at him quietly.

“I even doubted if she was actually your daughter!”

Andrew was stunned. “I…”

“She never blamed you for all that, and even now, all she wants is a confession from you, and that you’d have a bit of guilt that you let them down. However, you didn’t, and you don’t have the slightest remorse!”

If there was a hole in the ground now, Andrew would have dived straight into it. At his age, he was scolded until he was too ashamed to show his face.

“If you really treat her as a woman and still have an ounce of guilt for her, then let her see your sincerity!” Mark said.

Mark knew that Lyla could live well even without them, but he knew what it was that Lyla needed. He did not want Lyla to have regrets if she talked about this in the future. If possible, Mark wanted to help her finish it.

“I understand what you mean!” Andrew nodded.

“Thank you, Mr. Pattinson. I’m at ease if Lyla is in your hands!” Andrew got up and left.

Mark sat on the sofa and looked at the coffee in front of him. He did not know if Andrew really understood, but he had tried his best.

If Andrew still could not do it and did not get Lyla’s forgiveness, and the rumors continued, at that time, Mark could not be blamed for being discourteous.

He would do anything to protect Lyla.

……

Regarding the incident about the rumors, Lyla acted as if she did not take the matter to heart.

The rumors online continued, and since she did not give any explanation or response, everything was still in the public’s imagination.

Mark also saw the post Lyla uploaded. That quote was just like how she was.

For her to grow up so well while living such a life, Mark really wanted to thank the heavens.

That day was a Sunday, and Lyla did not go to the office. Mark also took the opportunity to rest.

Lyla looked at him. “Do you have anything on today?”

“What’s wrong? I’m all yours today. We’ll do whatever you want to do!”

“Really?”

“Yep!”

Lyla smiled. “Good, then come with me to meet someone!”

“Meet someone? Who?” Mark asked with a frown.

“You’ll know when the time comes. Go get changed. Wear something handsome, but don't wear a suit!” Lyla reminded.

Mark opened his mouth. “It doesn’t matter what I wear. I’m always this handsome. This is something that has always bothered me!”

Lyla rolled her eyes at him. What a narcissist.

Mark laughed and went upstairs to change.

When he came downstairs, Lyla could not help but laugh.

She looked at her clothes and then at Mark’s. Were they not wearing matching outfits?

She had a white t-shirt and a black skirt, while Mark wore a casual outfit that matched hers. Anyone could see at a glance that they were a couple.

“Why are you dressed like that?” Lyla asked.

Mark said, “Who knows who you’re taking me to see? If I wear this, even blind people can see that we’re together. That way, that person won’t pay any attention to you!”
