Chapter 279 Investigating Lingo

“Lyla!”

Mark stopped her and walked over. “It’s not that I want to stop you from seeing him, but he’s in the operating room. Even if you go there, you won't be able to see him!”

“I know, but if you ask me to sit here and wait, I won’t be able to do that!” Lyla said, “Even if I can only wait at the door of the operating room, I still want to go!”

Upon seeing that she was so determined, what else could Mark say? No one expected something like this to happen. Moreover, Lyla would not allow him to say anything much with her current mood. In the end, he nodded. “Okay, I’ll go with you!”

Lyla also nodded.

The two went out together.

They soon reached the entrance of the operating room.

When Lyla walked over, Hansel and Lingo were still at the door. The two seemed to be talking about something.

Lyla walked over. The moment Hansel saw her, he frowned and immediately went over. “Mommy, why are you here?”

“How’s Felix?” Lyla asked with flushed eyes.

“They’re still rescuing him. It’s been over an hour!” He said as he looked towards the door of the operating room.

Lyla stood there and stared at the operating room blankly. She did not even know what she was thinking at that moment. She just hoped that Felix would be alright.

‘Please, no!’

Hansel looked at her. “Mommy, don’t worry. Felix would not give up so easily!”

Only then did Lyla move her gaze to him and nodded blankly in the end.

Mark watched as he frowned, but he did not say anything.

Lyla kept waiting as she sat on the chair by the door. The operation lasted almost two hours, but every minute was torture for Lyla.

When the door of the operating room finally opened, Lyla’s heart raced.

She immediately walked over. “Doctor, how is it? How is he?”

The doctor took off his mask. He looked a little tired after all that struggle. “The bullet in his head has been removed. He’s temporarily out of danger for now. However, his situation still depends on the next 24 hours!”

“What will happen?”

“There might be an infection, he might also…”

“What is it?”

“The bullet was too close to his nerves, so if his willpower isn’t strong enough, he might never be able to wake up!”

Upon hearing these words, Lyla was so startled that she almost could not stand properly.

Mark and Hansel were also taken aback and looked at each other. No one expected this to happen.

“Thank you, doctor!” Mark spoke.

The doctor nodded and left.

Lyla sat on the chair as her tears fell drop by drop. She felt indescribably bad.

At that moment, Mark walked over and looked at her. “Don’t feel bad, no one expected this to happen. Moreover, the doctor already said that he would be fine as long as he’s able to get through this 24 hours!”

Lyla looked at him. “This only happened to him because of me!”

“This has nothing to do with you! It’s his enemies that were targeting him!”

“But if I didn’t insist on staying back there, then things wouldn’t be like this!” Lyla said as she blamed herself. Thinking about it, would the situation be different if she had left?

Mark sat beside her and took her into his arms as she spoke about that. “Don't bear all of the responsibility yourself. Even if someone had to take the blame, it wouldn’t be you no matter what!”

Lyla leaned on Mark’s shoulder and closed her eyes sadly.

…...

Meanwhile, inside the ward.

Lyla walked into the ward. Felix was still lying on the bed. His handsome face was unspeakably pale at this moment, his eyes were closed tightly, and he was in complete silence.

She felt indescribable distress as she watched over him.

The person who had always been invincible was now lying in bed. This kind of contrast was the most distressing.

She walked over and sat by Felix’s bed. Her tears rolled down again, she could not control them at all.

“Felix, why are you so silly?!”

“Don’t you know, the more you’re like this, the more I owe you? How can I ever repay you if you’re like this? What can I even do to repay you?!” The more she said, the harder she cried. “You knew that Mark and I are getting married soon, so why did you do that?!”

She held Felix’s hand as she spoke, buried his head, and burst into tears.

Lyla did not know what she would do if Felix continued to stay asleep like this.

Would she even be able to be together with Mark and get married willingly by then?

Her heart could not help but ache as she thought about this.

Mark stood outside the door. He could see the situation inside through the glass. Upon seeing Lyla this sad, he did not walk in or bother because he knew that she needed to be alone and spend some time with Felix.

He turned away and left as he thought about this.

It just so happened that Hansel had finished the work with Lingo and was walking over. Upon seeing Mark, he frowned. “Daddy, where's Mommy?”

Mark pointed towards the ward. “She’s inside!”

Hansel looked over there and did not worry about it. He then said, “Daddy, I found the location of those people!”

Mark’s eyes suddenly narrowed and gave out chills the moment Hansel spoke about this. “Where are they?”

“They haven’t left, they’re just hiding somewhere. Moreover, they’re within our range, so it’ll be easy to find them if we want to!” Hansel said. After all, this was the Eastern Union Alliance’s business, so they did not know if it was a good idea to intervene.

Mark’s eyes became fierce. “Find them!”

“But…”

“I can't get involved in their matters with the Eastern Union Alliance. However, if they dared to touch my woman, then they can’t blame me for being rude!”

Hansel looked at him with a slight smile. This idea was great.

Hansel also wanted to avenge Felix. Felix was such a good guardian, he was once one of his most important people too. Therefore, why would he not want to avenge him? However, the situation was still unsafe. Their relationship was also tense, so he could not find a way to start.
