Chapter 305 Ambushed During A Meal

A series of fierce battles between Ghost Gate and Eastern Union came next.

Moreover, it did not seem as though they would not stop until one party was wiped out.

While two dogs fought over the bone, a third could run away with it and although the people outside the fight had no idea the reason behind the bad blood, the chance to seize control remained high with Ghost Gate and Eastern Union fighting to the death.

It was at night.

In a hotel.

Putting on a straight face, Hansel sat behind a computer. His tiny hands were flying around the keyboard. That solemn look on his face was identical to Mark’s expression.

“I received information that a lot of people are out for blood lately, trying to rope in Ghost Gate and Eastern Union’s men. At this rate, the other organizations will swoop in.” Gretel turned to Mark. “Daddy, problems will arise with Ghost Gate and Eastern Union if we let this continue.”

Mark was without a word.

He must find Lyla even if Ghost Gate was at stake.

There was no question about it.

Amid his silence, Lingo sat in a corner with her legs crossed while looking at Piers. “Go, contact Stanson.”

“Why?”

“Since everyone’s out for blood, it makes no sense that we don’t make a move.”

Piers. “...”

He took a glance at Mark who was nearby. With the latter still having a poker face on. Piers beckoned Lingo to cut the crap.

Lingo was not having it. She said, “What? Did I say anything wrong? Rather than let someone else take the spoils, why not benefit our own people? We’ve got to keep the good stuff in the family,” Lingo stated her opinion, regardless of what others may be thinking or feeling.

Piers resignedly shook his head.

Sitting not far off, Gretel kept to herself as she had no clue what to say.

Just then, Mark turned to Hansel. “How’s the progress?”

“I still need more time.”

Giving a nod, Mark picked up his phone and moved to another corner. “Hello Neil, tell Ghost Gate to stop,” He uttered.

Gretel was dumbstruck by the instruction. Her eyes widened as she stared towards Lingo’s direction. Lingo, on the other hand, raised her brows at Gretel, thinking her prodding had worked.

Mark still refused to reply to Lingo after hanging up and looked at Hansel instead. “Are you sure he will return?”

“He should. As long as we stop, he will return if there’s nothing else,” Hansel gave a firm answer.

The trio on the other side were under the impression that Lingo succeeded in goading Mark into action. However, they were disappointed upon learning that it had been discussed beforehand.

“Okay, let me know if you find out about anything.”

“Sure.” Hansel bobbed his head.

Gazing at the father and son duo, Lingo was pretty much put off. She got up. “Let’s eat out.” She then turned to take a glance at Piers. “Are you coming or not?”

“Coming.”

“What about Gretel?”

“I’m going too.”

“Let’s go enjoy our meal and leave the work to those two.”

With Gretel nodding, the trio got up to leave.

Hansel lifted his head. “Bring some for me.”

“I don’t have the time.”

The door shut with a bang.

Hansel. “...”

He lifted his eyes to meet Mark’s gaze. The pair stared at each other while at a loss for words. Without a word more, Hansel dove back into the computer.

…...

In a restaurant.

Lingo’s charm knew no boundaries, regardless of nationality, race, even age.

Heads turned the moment she arrived at the restaurant.

She had a beautiful face yet put on rather cool clothes. People revered her presence but it did not stop them from taking second glances.

Gretel was the cutesy type while Piers might not be a looker but he was clearly no ordinary man by the crude bearing of his that could take the rough with the smooth.

It attracted a lot of attention with the trio sitting together.

Lingo and Gretel made an easy fit, ordering a lot from the menu.

“Can you finish the food?” Piers asked.

“Am I spending your money?”

“No.”

“Shut up then. Otherwise, scram back to your room.”

“Fine.” Piers chose to shut his trap.

“That’s what I thought. You shouldn't talk so much when you’re eating with ladies. Either you pay for the meal or you eat without a peep,” Gretel retorted.

Piers motioned a gesture to zip it. Since he could not step on the girls’ toes, he should stay low.

Gretel and Lingo blissfully waited for the food to arrive.

“What do you think? Will the plan work this time?” Gretel asked.

“We have to move forward whether or not it works tomorrow. No one can predict what’s going to happen. Moreover, Felix is not to be trifled with. It’s evident from the years he spent in this line of work. Don’t underestimate him.”

“Sigh, I thought that I could change things between Daddy and Felix but who knew...”

“This is the reality of things. Don’t just look on the brighter side of things. In our line of work, it’s good enough that it’s not always mortal combat,” Lingo uttered.

It was a real eye-opener for Gretel.

Nevertheless, she did not feel too good about parting ways with Felix.

There were so many beautiful memories after all.

She once thought that Mommy and Felix would end up together and was nice to him wholeheartedly. However, this was all fate.

“Alright now, don’t think too much about this. You can’t have it both ways. Let it go,” Lingo retorted.

Gretel nodded.

The waiter came up to serve the dishes.

With the food served, the waiter was about to leave when Lingo suddenly said, “Takeaway another order of this food and send it up to room 301.”

“Okay.”

Piers and Gretel’s gaze fell on Lingo.

While eating, Lingo swept a glance at them. “Why are you guys looking at me?”

“Didn’t you say you didn’t have the time?” Gretel asked with a smile.
