Chapter 351 Be Responsible For You

Amanda wanted to refute when Mark added. “I have something to tell you!”

“What is it?”

Mark’s expression was a little unpleasant. He thought about it for a moment and said, “You should know about what happened some time ago!”

“You’re talking about the incident where Lyla was framed?”

“Yes, you’re right!”

“What about it?”

“It’s obvious that someone was targeting her deliberately during that incident. We’ve always been trying to find this person!”

“About this, I’ve heard it from Lyla!”

“So, I think that person won’t expect that she’s living with you now. However, I can’t say for sure either, so the two of you should stay cautious!” Mark explained.

Amanda’s expression changed a little. “I understand. I’ll be careful!”

“You and Lyla should try your best to not go out. If you do have to go out, call me immediately whenever anything happens, understand?”

This was a serious matter, so Amanda did not dare to joke about it and just nodded with a serious expression. “I understand. I’ll be cautious.”

Only then did Mark nod in relief.

At this moment, Lyla walked out of the kitchen. She walked over as she saw them chatting. “What are you two talking about?”

Before Mark could even speak, Amanda said with a smile, “Mr. Pattinson was asking me to make sure that you rest well!”

Lyla glanced at Mark when Amanda said this. Mark did not deny it.

Nonetheless, Lyla knew that Mark would not say something like that. If he did not want to say it, then she would not ask about it. In any case, Lyla believed that Mark was only doing this for her sake so that she would not worry.

Lyla smiled and just continued eating breakfast without saying much.

Mark’s phone rang. He then took a look at it and answered it. “What’s the matter?”

His expression gradually became gloomy. After some time, he said, “I understand, I’ll be there right away!” He then hung up the phone once he finished speaking.

Lyla watched from the side. “What is it? Did something happen?”

Mark just gave Lyla an assured smile. “Don’t worry, it’s just about work, but I won’t be able to have breakfast with you anymore. I need to go there right now. Have a nice meal!”

Although Mark said that it was nothing, Lyla could still tell that something was off, so she just nodded without holding him back. “Okay, have a safe journey.”

Mark smiled at her and nodded. He then glanced at Amanda and gave her a look. Amanda nodded to show that she understood.

Thus, Mark left while Lyla just sat there in a daze.

Once Amanda saw this, she said, “You don’t have to worry too much. Mr. Pattinson will definitely take care of it.”

Lyla smiled as she picked up her knife and fork. “I’m not worried. I never have to worry about him when it comes to his work. I trust him in this matter.”

Upon hearing this, Amanda squinted her eyes at her. “Why does this sound like you’re showing off your relationship?”

“Really?”

“Yes.”

“Fine then, I won’t deny it!”

Amanda, “...”

“Do you have any plans after eating?” Lyla asked.

Amanda remembered Mark’s instructions. It was better for them to not go out much at that moment, so she said, “I happen to have a project on hand, so help me to take a look at it later.”

“You’re asking a pregnant woman to help you with work, so how are you going to reward me?”

“Sis, isn’t it enough that I’ve been serving you food?” Amanda said in a bitter expression.

This was indeed true, so Lyla nodded after thinking about it. “Alright then, I’ll just help you a little.”

“Thank you!” Amanda had a grateful expression which made Lyla smile.

After their meal, Amanda tidied up and took out the documents for Lyla to take a look at.

Lyla just sat on the couch without moving as if she was already pregnant for 10 months, even though one could barely tell that she was pregnant.

After seeing the documents, Lyla spoke to Amanda, who was busy in the kitchen, “Your projects now are way better than mine previously. It’s way easier.”

“This is easy?”

“Whatever that’s within your capabilities or ability to sort it out isn’t a problem.”

Speaking about this, Amanda felt a little curious. She then wiped her hands and walked over. “Then what projects did you do previously?”

“They were all projects that were hard to complete!” Just talking about it made Lyla feel tired out.

“So did you manage to complete them?”

“Of course, who do you think am I?” Lyla asked. She spoke about this with full of pride. Lyla had to go through them step by step in distress, which was not something normal people can relate to.

“Come on, let’s gossip about it a little.”

“Forget it, people say that heroes won’t mention their past glories. It’s all in the past anyway.” Lyla was not willing to talk about this anymore.

“Oh come on, just tell me about it! Consider it as a warning for me so I can avoid going through some troubles!”

“Don’t worry, nobody in the company would dare to do anything to you currently!”

“That might be true, but there’s no absolute way to prevent things, so I think that I should still gain more knowledge. Lyla, I know that you don’t want to talk about others. However, just consider it as a warning to me. I’ll definitely not tell anyone about it!” Amanda promised again and again.

Thus, Lyla could not resist Amanda’s persuasion and told her about it a little. However, she did not mention Kathleen’s name at all. She just referred to her as Mark’s ex-girlfriend.

That was how Lyla was. She did not like to mention past matters, nor did she want to say anything about others. There was a quote that she liked very much, ‘Instead of criticizing others from a moral high ground, it’s better to have set a higher standard for yourself.’ This quote had always been her principle which led to her current personality.
