Chapter 147 Kathleen's Sudden Appearance

“As long as it’s those who have been rumored to be with me before and got pregnant, whether or not it’s my child, she’ll never let them go!”

Lyla was startled and looked at him with wide eyes.

How could this be?

How could a woman be that cruel?

After all, every life was innocent.

“Kathleen is no exception. I knew that the child in her belly was not my child, so I never thought of hurting her, but I didn't expect that she'd come forward so stupidly!” At this point, a mocking smile appeared from the corners of Mark’s lips. Who knows whether that smile was mocking himself or mocking Kathleen for her stupidity.

The corners of his lips were raised up in a mocking smile. However, in Lyla’s eyes, that smile had an unspeakable bitterness and pain.

At some point, Lyla sat next to him, but she was tongue-tied for a while.

Mark was almost in his thirties, but because of Eileen, he never married nor did he have any other children.

At this time, Mark looked at Lyla. “So, do you know how thankful I am that we only had a one night stand previously and weren't together? At that time, I wouldn’t have the capability to protect you guys at all, I would have regretted things until my death!”

The moment she heard his words, Lyla’s heart tightened for some reason. She suddenly had an urge to cry.

“So, you don't have to blame yourself, this matter has nothing to do with you!” Mark comforted her.

How could Lyla still be thinking about that matter now? Now, she just felt bad for Mark. It seemed like those women were the victims, but Mark would have to endure such strong mental torture when something like that happened.

She stretched out her hand to hold Mark's, held her tears back forcefully, and showed a smile. “Mark Pattinson, let me tell you, you will be in the Lowe family from now on. So, be careful if you dare to hide your feelings in the future, I’ll expel you from the family!”

Mark laughed as he heard Lyla suddenly saying that. His laugh sounded really nice, it was as if what he said just now was just someone else’s story. “What? Do you feel bad for me and want to hug me?”

“Don't worry, in this life, I’ll never leave you again!” Mark pulled Lyla into his arms and hugged her tightly, as if he wanted to merge together with her.

Lyla also put her hands on his waist and hugged him.

Kathleen would definitely never expect that her sudden appearance made the relationship between Mark and Lyla even better.

…...

After some time, the door of the emergency room opened. Both Lyla and Mark regained their composure, got up, and walked over there.

“Doctor, how is it? How is she?” Lyla asked first.

“It's nothing serious, but the wounds on her body…” The doctor stopped mid-sentence.

“What's wrong with her wounds?” Mark asked. His steady appearance made him look like a completely different person from his carefree look just now.

“The wounds on her body were all caused by abuse, the wounds at her genitals were also severely torn. She’s going to need to rest properly for a while!” said the doctor.

After hearing this, Lyla was taken aback and understood why the doctor stopped mid-sentence. It was indeed hard to say.

“I see, thank you, doctor!” said Lyla.

“You're welcome!”

After the doctor left, Lyla looked up at Mark. Mark had a calm expression without much emotion.

“Let’s go in and take a look!” said Lyla.

Mark nodded.

Not long after they walked in, Kathleen slowly woke up, her eyes opened and closed repeatedly, and she finally opened her eyes slowly.

“You’re awake?” Mark looked at her and said.

“Ma-Mark…” After seeing Mark, Kathleen was a little excited, she wanted to get up, but Mark said, “You have wounds on your body, so don’t move carelessly. Just lie down!”

Kathleen stretched out her hand and grabbed Mark's clothes. “Mark…” Tears quickly flowed out her eyes.

Lyla was watching by the side with calm eyes, no emotions could be seen.

Kathleen kept on grabbing the corner of his clothes without letting go, but she choked and did not know what to say. After a long time, she finally calmed down and looked at Mark. “Did you save me?”

“We saw that you were lying outside after we finished eating, what happened?” Mark asked.

Kathleen's gaze also fell onto Lyla who was behind her, but she turned away in an instant.

“Yes, it was Mr. Thomson…” Kathleen said, “he’s a pervert. I just wanted to ask him to help my father, but I didn't expect him to treat me like this!” Kathleen cried.

Mr. Thomson?

It turned out to be him?

The land that he wanted belonged to Mr. Thomson, it was just snatched away by Arden, and now Kathleen had suddenly appeared…

“I see, stop talking about it, take a good rest first!” said Mark. It was the most comforting thing he could say at that moment.

“No!” Kathleen grabbed him. “Mark, I still have something to tell you!”

Mark looked at her. “I heard that Arden just took away a piece of land, the purpose of it was to go against you, so you must be careful!”

Upon seeing Kathleen's sincere look, Mark smiled slightly. “I’ve already taken care of this, so take a good rest!”

“You, are you still angry with me? Do you blame me?” Kathleen grabbed him and refused to let go.

“It’s all in the past!”

At this time, Kathleen looked at Lyla. “Ms. Lowe, how about you?”

Lyla did not expect Kathleen to talk to her, but what she said was indeed surprising.
