Chapter 148 Hansel's Secret

Kathleen's expression changed, and her eyes looked at Lyla weakly. “What about you? I've done so many bad things to you, don't you hate me or blame me?”

“I hate and resent you. However, those are not my bottom line, so I can still forgive you!” said Lyla.

However, as for the child’s hatred…

She could not believe that Kathleen would forgive her.

Kathleen walked to the window and looked outside. “I’ve hated and resented you too, I’ve wished to kill you to avenge my child, but I knew that it was useless because I was responsible for it on that day too. If I had not argued with you because of Mark, then something like that wouldn’t happen…” Then, she slowly turned around. “I’m a person who has died once and walked at the edge of death’s door before. Once I wake up again, do you think I’ll still care about it?” Kathleen looked at her and asked.

Lyla frowned. “What do you mean?”

“You may not be able to imagine my frustration. After that incident, I jumped into the sea and wanted to die, but unexpectedly, I survived... I couldn’t even die. I was rescued. Now it has come to this point, do you think that I still have the strength to hate or blame you with this feeling of being unable to live or die?”

Lyla was startled, she did not expect that Kathleen had attempted to commit suicide before.

After a while, she could not say anything, she then finally looked at Kathleen. “No matter what, it's okay. The most important thing is to take good care of your body. Everything can be discussed after you get better!”

Just as Kathleen was about to say something again, she saw a figure hurrying in from the outside.

However, after seeing the two people talking in the room, he was taken aback.

The anxiety and worry in his eyes hurt Kathleen’s eyes, but she still smiled faintly. “Mark, you’re here?”

Mark breathed a sigh of relief, slowed down, and looked over. “Yeah!”

“What? Are you worried that I’ll do something to her?” Kathleen asked with a smile. That smile was filled with an inexplicable bitterness.

Mark did not reply to her, he just looked at her.

“I know that both of you are worried about me, Ms. Lowe, Mark, thank you very much for saving me. I’ll return the money to you in the future, so you don't have to come again next time!” Kathleen turned around as she spoke and looked outside the window, empty and desperate.

“Where are you living now?” said Mark.

There was a moment of silence. “You don't have to worry about that, I have a place to stay!”

“Kathleen…” said Mark.

“Don't worry about me, go back!” Kathleen turned her back against them.

“But…”

“Just go!” Without even waiting for them to speak, Kathleen interrupted them and turned her back against them. “Just consider it as leaving me some dignity!”

In the end, Lyla and Mark looked at each other before they walked out.

Outside.

The two walked side by side, Lyla looked at him. “Why are you here?”

“The moment I finished the meeting and heard that you’d gone to the hospital alone from J, I came here immediately!” said Mark.

Lyla nodded. “Say, maybe we’ve really misunderstood her?”

“Everyone has a chance to start over, so maybe we shouldn't judge others?” Lyla asked Mark She suddenly felt that she was a little hateful after seeing Kathleen’s back just now.

Lyla was kind-hearted after all.

Mark turned around to look at her. “If she really wants to live a new life, then she’ll definitely get a chance, you don't have to feel guilty. After all, once bitten, twice shy. You’re not wrong, you’ve even helped her now, so we're just going to do what we can to have a clear conscience!”

Lyla smiled slightly as she looked at him.

“Why are you smiling?”

“You usually look like a fool, who knew that you could be this good at comforting others!”

The corners of Mark's lips raised. “So, don't just look at me from one perspective. I have many good points, you’ll learn more about them in the future!”

When she heard that he started to go into a narcissistic mode again, Lyla shook her head helplessly, turned away, and left.

“I haven't finished yet!”

“I heard nothing!”

…...

After the events of that day, Lyla did not think about it that much anymore.

Mark was right. If Kathleen really wanted to live a new life, she would definitely get a chance. They had now resumed being like two parallel lines. It was better for them to not have any intersections as they were already even.

Lyla became more relieved as she thought of this, and devoted herself to work in the following days.

On the other hand.

Hansel had skipped class for two consecutive days just to deal with receiving the goods.

Finally, he managed to negotiate a result from Piers Brion.

Mark had made a compromise and let this side be their center point in the future.

After this was done, Hansel had saved a lot of worries, but he still had to receive the goods on one hand and let Mark do his thing on the other hand.

After all, as Mark's son, Hansel knew him too well. Mark would not play his cards according to common sense and would say one thing but do another, so Hansel had to keep an eye on him.

The goods would arrive at 2:00 am.

Before that, Hansel cooked a whole table of dishes, it was really luxurious.

When Lyla and Mark came back, they were a little surprised when they saw the whole table of dishes.

“Hansel, is it a good day today? Or is it some special occasion?” Lyla thought that she was going to faint.

Hansel walked over eagerly and helped her take the bag and coat. “No, Mommy, I just realized that you’ve lost weight recently, so I made some delicious food to help you recover!”

“Really? You’re that good?” Lyla smiled and asked, looking satisfied that she had such a son.

“Yes, yes, so go wash up and we’ll eat!” Hansel pushed her inside.

Lyla’s mouth watered as she looked at dishes on the table, and went to wash up reluctantly.

After Hansel had put Lyla's things into place, he turned to look at Mark. “Daddy, you’re not going to eat?”
