Chapter 190 Carmen’s Plea For Mercy

Lyla was so frightened the phone almost slipped off.

“Daddy, why are you here?”

Mark swaggered in and glared fiercely at Lyla. “Of course, I’m here to keep you company!”

Lyla, “...”

Without greeting her, Mark lifted the quilt and climbed onto the bed, lying on the other side of Gretel. His body leaned back lazily. “What were you two talking about?”

“Oh, we were… just chatting casually!” Gretel smiled and said, obviously hiding the matter regarding Felix Smith.

Lyla glanced at Gretel and understood what she meant, and did not say anything either.

Mark looked up at Lyla. “Who are you calling?”

“A friend!” Then, Lyla carelessly put away the phone under the pillow.

“A friend? What friend?”

“Emmy!”

Mark nodded and did not ask again.

Gretel immediately changed the topic. “Daddy, will you and Mummy be here with me tonight?”

“I don’t want to, but since your Mummy is here with you, I’m here too!”

Gretel, “...”

She looked disdainful. “Daddy, you don’t love me at all!”

“I don’t want to accompany you because I love you. What if you don’t sleep well at night?”

“That’s an excuse!”

“You could tell?”

Gretel, “...”

Lyla smiled as she watched the father and daughter bickering, but her mind was thinking about what Gretel said. If there was such a day, Lyla hoped that it did not come, or that it came as late as possible...

As for Felix Smith.

As long as they called, Felix never failed to answer before. This was the first time...

She could not help but start to worry. Did something happen to Felix?

……

After chatting for an unknown amount of time, the three fell asleep.

At night, Lyla had a dream.

She dreamt that something happened to Felix, and he came to her, covered in blood. She wanted to say something, but could not make a sound no matter how she tried. In the end, Lyla woke up in anxiousness.

At that time, she found that it was already dawn.

Mark’s handsome face was right in front of her. “Are you awake?”

Lyla’s heart was still beating fast when she remembered the dream she had about Felix, and she nodded her head tiredly.

“Yeah!”

“You don’t look too good. Did you have a nightmare?”

Lyla nodded.

Mark suddenly reached out and held her in his arms. “Come, you won’t dream with me around. Go to sleep!”

Feeling the warmth of Mark’s arms, Lyla’s mouth pulled back in a smile, but her eyes looked out the window. “What time is it?” She asked.

“8:00 am!”

Lyla glanced around and then remembered that Gretel was leaving today. “Where’s Gretel?”

“She left!”

“Left?”

“She left with Lingo at six in the morning!”

“Why didn’t you wake me up?”

“Gretel said she didn’t want you to be sad, so we didn’t wake you up!”

“But…”

“She’ll only be gone for three days. It’s not like she’s leaving forever. Why are you so nervous?” Mark asked.

That was true, but Lyla still had an indescribable uneasiness.

“You should have at least woken me up!”

“You slept so late yesterday, how could I bear to wake you up?”

Lyla, “...”

Gretel was already gone to avoid the sadness when they separated, so Lyla did not say anything more. “Alright, it’s getting late. Get up!”

“Sleep a little longer!”

“I’m late for work!”

“I gave you a leave of absence!”

Lyla, “...”

“Come, go back to sleep,” Mark said and hugged her to sleep.

Lyla was really helpless.

Since she was on leave, and Gretel was already gone, what else could Lyla say? She also closed her eyes to sleep.

When she woke up again, it was already about 10:00 am. Lyla was much more comfortable, but Mark was still sleeping. She originally wanted to wake him up, but the words reached her mouth before stopping there.

Looking at how quietly Mark slept, she felt that the whole world was at peace.

She did not know how much time passed when Mark moved. Lyla immediately closed her eyes and pretended to sleep.

Mark opened his eyes and looked at the person sleeping quietly in front of him, and smiled “You’ve been staring at me for so long. Why are you still pretending?”

Lyla, “...”

Her fist clenched under the covers, but she still did not open her eyes. If she did, that would be admitting that she peeked at him.

Lyla continued to pretend.

Ok!

Mark never lacked the ability to make her open her eyes. He rolled them over so he was on top of her.

Seeing how her eyes were still closed, Mark smiled. “You must really want me to do this, right? Okay, I’ll grant your wish…”

His hands began to slide along her curves.

Lyla tensed and opened her eyes, laughing and blocking his movements. “Nonono!”

“Why, are you awake?” Mark raised his eyebrows.

Lyla shook her head. “I was wrong!”

“Wrong? Isn’t it a little too late for that?”
