Chapter 283 Wavering Thoughts

Mark looked at her and said nothing.

He loved her and doted on her, but that did not mean that he would indulge everything and let her go.

At that moment, his silence was his best protest.

Seeing Mark remain silent, Lyla did not know what to say. She lowered her eyes. “I know this will be hard for you to accept, but Mark, I’m going there to look after Felix, not because my feelings changed. I just feel that I owe him. If I don’t make it up to him, I’ll never be able to feel at ease in my life!”

“Do you know what that means?” After a long time, Mark asked her. His deep and dark eyes were like a bottomless abyss, making people unable to see the depths of them.

“Mark…”

“You can take care of him, and you can stay with him, but that doesn’t mean that you can do anything. In this life, the only thing I won’t allow is to let you leave me!” Mark said word by word.

“Mark, I know what you’re worried about…”

“This matter isn’t up for negotiation!” Then, Mark turned his back on her.

Looking at his back, Lyla did not know what to say. She knew clearly that this was indeed a very difficult thing for Mark.

At that moment, she reached out and hugged him from behind, pressing her cheek against his firm back. This time, she did not say anything else and simply held him...

Mark also did not say anything else. In the silence, the pair of them embraced in the empty corridor.

……

“How did that happen?” Gretel asked anxiously. “Why didn’t anyone tell me when something so big happened?”

“Alright, we didn’t tell you for your own good. We were afraid that you’d worry!” Lyla looked at her soothingly.

“Then, Mommy, how are you? Are you okay?”

“I’m fine, don’t worry!”

This let Gretel put her mind at ease. At that time, she turned to Hansel.

Hansel immediately said, “I swear I didn’t mean to not tell you. It’s because the situation was too urgent and I didn’t have time to tell you!”

Now was not the time to blame anyone. Gretel looked at Lyla. “Mummy, what about Felix? Is there really no other way?”

Lyla took a deep breath and looked ahead. “There is!”

“What is it?”

“Going abroad. There’s better technology, so if he goes abroad, the chances of recovery are greater there!” Lyla said.

“In that case, then that’s good!” Hansel said. At least that way, they would not feel like they owed Felix.

If something really happened to him, they would feel uneasy for the rest of their lives.

“For now, we still don’t know how it’ll turn out!” Lyla said.

Gretel was very worried and leaned over. “Mommy, will Felix be okay?”

Lyla also did not know how to answer. “If he goes abroad for treatment, his chances of recovery will be greater!”

“Mommy!” Hansel called her.

Lyla looked at him. “What’s wrong?”

“You want to go abroad with Felix, don’t you?” Hansel asked.

Lyla did not know how he figured it out and was surprised that he guessed it, but she did not ask about it. She was silent for a moment, not knowing how to reply.

Her silence was the best answer.

“Mommy, are you really going?”

“I’m not at ease with how he is now!”

“But Daddy and you are getting married soon!”

“I know, but Felix is in this state now… Do you think I can be at ease and get married?” Lyla asked instead.

Hansel and Gretel did not know what to say to that.

They both knew clearly how much they owed Felix.

In their childhood memories, Felix was both a father figure and a friend. They had no way to forget about that.

“But, what about Daddy?” Hansel asked.

They could also tell that Mark was not too happy these days, which was how they managed to guess. They never thought that it was true.

Speaking of Mark, Lyla also did not know what to say.

These days, Mark had always listened to her, but this matter.

She knew that this was very difficult for Mark.

However, she had to go to Felix.

Looking at Hansel and Gretel, she smiled. “We’ll talk about it next time!”

From the beginning, Hansel and Gretel did not give any suggestions, because they knew that this matter was indeed very tricky.

If they persuaded Daddy to say yes, it would be hurting him.

However, if they persuaded Mommy to give up, then what about Felix?

They owed him too much, so they could not say anything.

“Mommy, talk it over with Daddy. There has to be a way!”

Lyla smiled and nodded.

“Then, Hansel and I will go to the hospital first to see Felix!”

“Be careful!”

“Yep!”

Hansel and Gretel left.

Lyla was alone at home for a long time, and even until late, Mark did not come back.

Lyla waited until 2:00 am, but Mark still had not come back. She picked up her phone and made a call.

The line was connected after a few rings.

“Hello…”
