Chapter 296 An Unknown Island

The screensaver was a picture of their family of four.

It was taken when they were playing around on the sofa at home, looking happy and joyful.

Mark seldom looked at Lyla’s phone and had no idea when she set this photo as the screensaver. He could not help but tear up.

However, with his head hanging, Hansel and Gretel did not see.

Both of them also had an indescribable feeling in their hearts. They never expected that things would suddenly become like this when everything was fine before.

Most importantly, they had not noticed Felix’s plan at all.

“We don’t know where Mummy is!” Gretel said.

Hansel did not speak because he did not want to add sadness to this thick atmosphere.

Mark held the phone and finally pressed it to his lips, sobbing in a low voice.

Hansel and Gretel watched but did not know what to say.

……

Lyla woke up again.

She was still dazed, and her body was tired, only half-conscious, but this state was the most tiring.

Just as she was about to get up, the door was pushed open again.

Lisa walked in, carrying food. She smiled warmly when she saw Lyla. “You’re awake, Ms. Lowe?”

Lyla wanted to say something but felt that speaking was particularly exhausting, so she simply nodded.

“In that case, eat something, Ms. Lowe!” Lisa attended to her warmly.

Lyla shook her head. “Water, give me water. I want water!” Lyla said weakly.

Lisa nodded and immediately went over to pour Lyla water, and handed it to her. “Please drink, Ms. Lowe!”

“Thank you.” Lyla took the water and drank a few mouthfuls, and felt much more comfortable. She felt like a withered flower that just obtained nutrients, and her entire body felt much better.

Lisa watched from the side. “Does Ms. Lowe want to eat now?”

In Lyla’s memory, it had not been long since she last ate, so she was not hungry at all. “Didn’t I already eat just now?”

“That was last night, Ms. Lowe!”

“Last night?” She frowned. “W-What time is it now?”

“It’s already afternoon!”

In other words, she slept from yesterday to noon today.

Heavens.

“I slept for so long?” Lyla asked incredulously. She had never slept that much before.

“Yes, I called Ms. Lowe several times earlier in the day, but you didn’t wake up at all!” Lisa said, but it did not look like she was blaming Lyla at all.

Lyla frowned. “How could that be?!”

“I think it’s probably because of excessive blood loss!” Lisa said. “I heard that Ms. Lowe donated a lot of blood to Mr. Smith, so it’s normal for this to happen!”

Her words did make sense. Lyla nodded.

“Ms. Lowe, do you want to eat now?!” Lisa asked. “This is the only way to recover quicker!”

Lyla shook her head feebly. “No, I’m not hungry now.”

“But…”

“Just leave it there. I’ll eat it when I’m hungry.” Lyla said. She was not used to being served, and could not handle it at all.

Lisa thought about it and finally nodded.

Then, Lyla started to look around.

Lisa walked out.

“Wait!” She suddenly called.

“Is there something else, Ms. Lowe?”

“Did you see my phone?” Lyla asked. She looked around everywhere, but she could not find it.

Lisa shook her head. “I’m not sure about that!”

Lyla was worried. She did not know how many days had passed, but she felt like she had not contacted Mark in a long time.

To not make them worried, she had to call them.

However, she never expected that she could not find her phone.

“You… C-Can you call Shadow over?” Lyla asked her while looking for her phone.

“Shadow went out to do something. He’s not here now!”

“What about Felix?”

“Mr. Smith is now in the intensive care unit and cannot visit you yet!” Lisa said.

Lyla frowned. She knew that the situation was tense now, but she was really worried about Mark and the others. What should they do if they could not reach her?

After searching high and low, she still could not find her phone.

In the end, Lyla lay on the bed and gave up.

Maybe the phone was lost, or maybe it was put away or put at an unknown place.

What Lyla thought about now was Mark, Hansel, and Gretel.

She did not know how long it had been, but she felt that she had not heard their voices or news about them in a long time.

She missed them so much.

Thinking of this, Lyla suddenly remembered something.

She raised her hand and looked at her watch.

Lyla remembered that Hansel told her that this watch could locate her position and could also be used to talk to each other.

Thinking of this, she followed the method Hansel taught her and pressed the watch.

However, after pressing it for a long time, there was still no response.

Lyla frowned. How could this be?

Where was the position locator? Where was the call function? Why was there no response at all?

Was it broken?
