Eileen and Justin stared at Mark, aware that the latter was deliberately applying a strong-arm approach on them. However, it was not like they could do anything despite knowing that fact!
They were sweating bullets, watching as Mark walked out step by step.
Only Mark could save Logan now. Logan would be detained there for another month if he really were to leave.
Eileen could not bear for Logan to remain there any longer!
“Wait a minute!”
Unable to stop herself, Eileen spoke up.
Hearing her voice, Mark’s lips curled into a smile.
“You have my word!” Eileen blurted.
The outcome would be no different, even if the company was back in Logan’s hands at the rate he was going.
Turning over, Mark was not surprised at all as he gazed at her.
Sure, Eileen played hardball, but she doted on her own son.
“But I have a condition!” Eileen added.
Mark knew Eileen would negotiate terms.
“Let’s hear it!”
“You need to arrange a job for Logan in M.K. and you can’t force him to leave!” Eileen enunciated each word clearly.
The term was to safeguard their future livelihood.
Afraid that Mark would give them hell after gaining full control of the company, Eileen came up with such a condition.
Mark nodded after a brief contemplation. “Sure, I won’t kick him out as long as he doesn’t do anything that goes against company policies!” He said.
“You’ve said it yourself!”
Mark raised a brow. “But I will have the lawyer draft a contract which I hope you’ll sign!”
Eileen frowned. “You don’t trust me?”
“It’s simply a precaution!” Mark retorted.
Eileen coldly scoffed. “Mark Pattinson, this was all your doing all along, right? You framed Logan just to get your hands on the company, am I right?” It was no wonder Eileen thought so because it was all too coincidental. Mark’s ploy was too obvious.
Hearing this, Mark’s lips lifted into a smirk. “There are a lot of ways to get him to step down but he managed to get himself in this mess without me doing anything. Do you think there’s a need for me to dabble in meaningless tactics?”
“What do you mean?”
“You heard it clearly. I will have the contract sent to you when it’s drafted!” With that, Mark took off.
“When are you getting Logan out?” Eileen shouted from the back.
“He’ll be out when you sign the contract!”
Looking at his receding figure, Eileen’s hands balled into a fist.
Watching in the back as it all unfolded, Justin held his tongue. It looked as though he had given up.
He only had remorse for Eileen over the years. Hence, he would turn a blind eye to whatever she did.
If he had a say, between Mark and Logan, Mark was more suited to take the CEO position. Although Logan was also his son, the boy did not have the talent for it. This decision was, in fact, for the best.
Justin kept it to himself.
…...
Mark’s phone rang when he was at the door. “Daddy!”
“What’s up?”
“I’ve completed the task you gave me!” Hansel replied.
Speaking of this, Mark’s lips perked into a smile. “Okay, got it!”
“Don’t forget what you promised me!”
“Oh, I remember!”
“Okay, you should go about your business then!”
“Sure!”
After hanging up, Mark let out a resolute smile. With a genius son around, it became an ease to do anything.
His gaze softened at the thought of Hansel, Gretel, and Lyla. Even though Lyla, that woman, did not know what was good for her, she took great care of Hansel and Gretel. Nevertheless, it was that very personality that stood out in the crowd and made him see her in a new light.
With that in mind, he must fight to provide only the best for the mother and children’s sake.
Getting into a car, Mark gave J a call. “Draft a contract for me, on the double!”
J knew what was going on. He asked, “It’s done?”
“It would be even better if you could work faster!”
“Alright, I’ll deal with it right now!” J was overjoyed.
Mark was tickled pink after the phone call.
He needed to fight for the best for Hansel and Gretel.
Since he had never fulfilled any duties as a father in the years before, he must make it up to them twice as much from now on!
…...
The next day.
Mark did not return to the residence after the contract was drawn up and instead had someone bring it over to Eileen and Justin to sign.
Without hesitation, Eileen placed her signature on it.
She was about to give Mark a call following the formalization of the contract when a voice was heard at the door. “Mom, Dad...”
With Logan’s voice tugging at Eileen’s heartstrings, she immediately walked out.
The moment she set her eyes on Logan, she quickly drew close and examined him from head to toe. “Logan, you’re back. How are you feeling? Did they torture you?”
“Mom, why didn’t you get me out sooner? Don’t you know it’s cold in there and the food is horrible!” Logan whined at the sight of his mother.
