“You sure are heartless. Kathleen would be sad if she could hear you now,” Lyla threw a remark.

“Heartless? She has known this since the beginning. Is it heartless to not love someone? Lyla Lowe, what are you to me then?” Mark stared at her and asked.

Lyla. “...”

It was not the same. He was talking as though Lyla was stringing him along.

“Mr. Pattinson, don’t lump us together. It’s not the same.”

“How is it different?” Mark probed.

“I never held you up,” Lyla replied.

“Oh, really? Well, you’ll be holding me up soon!

“You made me aware of Hansel, Gretel and your existence. How am I supposed to face other women? No one will accept a man with two kids. Lyla Lowe, you have already set me back.”

Lyla retorted, “...So, it’s my fault for letting you know about Hansel and Gretel?”

“That’s right. You have to take responsibility.”

“Mr. Pattinson, don’t worry. Hansel and Gretel will not take your last name. They definitely won’t be admitting to being your children in public. Hence, even your future wife will never know.” Lyla was still pushing Mark away.

“Do you think that the truth won’t come out?” Mark snapped as rage brewed within. This woman went as far to say that Hansel and Gretel would not take his last name.

“What do you want then?” Lyla asked with a frown.

“What do I want...?” With his eyes on her, Mark leisurely mumbled as he drew close to her. “Can I do whatever I want?”

Lyla. “...”

Amid her silence, Mark took a mile, having gained an inch. “Lyla Lowe, the truth will come out. See, you have already ruined my life, so I’ll be leaving my future in your hands from now on.”

“Can I refuse?” Lyla muttered.

“No!”

Lyla. “...”

Mark smiled in the face of her uncommunicativeness. “Lyla, of course you can refuse but, as I’m around, don’t think for a second that you can escape me for the rest of your life as long.

“You don’t have to accept me. We can go about our lives like this. I won’t go looking for a partner, neither will you. You can spend the rest of your life in cold emptiness and desolation,” Mark declared.

Lyla. “...”

Mark was really ruthless to say so.

Lyla was rendered speechless, at a loss for words.

The colorful and ever-changing expression on Lyla’s face sure put Mark in a good mood.

“You have no choice apart from me.”

“So your plan is to pester me for a lifetime?” Lyla enquired.

“It’s written in the stars. You should’ve thought about this when you decided to give birth to Hansel and Gretel,” Mark uttered.

He might have mentioned otherwise but Mark was grateful that she kept them both, which ultimately brought them together. Even if Lyla refused to accept him, he was more than willing to be bound like this forever.

Mark was going insane, so unlike himself, with this idea.

Lyla fixated her gaze on Mark. “Aren’t you afraid I’ll take them away?”

Color washed off Mark’s face.

It really had never crossed his mind.

He had already accepted their unexpected presence so it never occurred to him that Lyla would take them away.

“Don’t you dare!” Mark suddenly grabbed Lyla’s shoulders. “Lyla Lowe, I will find you even if you take them and flee to the ends of the earth!” His expression was menacingly horrifying as he spoke each word.

It was only a random comment so she never thought that Mark would react in such a way.

Lyla considered in her mind what she had said to warrant this huge reaction.

Only, she was simply unaware of how much they meant to Mark.

She frowned. “Mark, you’re hurting me!” Lyla blurted.

Mark realized that he went overboard but instead of letting go, he gave her a tight squeeze. “That would teach you.”

Lyla replied, “... It was only a passing comment.”

Looking at her, Mark was pissed beyond words.

“Lyla Lowe, you’re testing my patience!”

“No!”

“You‘ll forget who you are if I don’t teach you a lesson.”

While Lyla contemplated on the supposed lesson mentioned, Mark had already leaned in and pushed her under him before aiming for her lips. It was a passionate kiss.

Only god knew how long he had been without a woman since his encounter with her. Most importantly, this was the image that came to mind every time he saw her...

It was definitely a trigger. He went from punishment to losing himself.

Lyla put up resistance in the beginning but the stark difference in strength between men and women left her without an ounce of strength. Closing her eyes, she left it to Mark with the canoodling and gradually, she melted in his kiss and warmth.

As time passed, Lyla and Mark were overwhelmed with a strange feeling.

It felt as though there were eyes on them. Following this eerie intuition, they lifted their eyes and looked up.

After taking a tour around the house, Hansel and Gretel walked out to this scene.

The couple should at least get a room rather than starting it in the living room.

In uniformity, the kids stood on the first floor with their hands on the railing, snickering under their breath as they stared at the couple. Those eyes seemed to state their knowledge of their affair.

Lyla and Mark lifted their heads for a look in unison and, the moment she saw that it was the kids, Lyla wanted to just bury in shame. She pushed Mark away and pretended as though nothing had happened.

Displeased, Mark shot a glare at the twins upstairs.

Gretel spoke, “R-rated scenes are unsuited for the public.”
