Rotten Twins: Making a CEO a Daddy นิยาย บท 126

Mark drove them home after eating and drinking to their heart’s content.

Once downstairs, Hansel turned to him. “Daddy, aren’t you coming up?”

“I need to head over to the office to attend to a matter.”

Hansel nodded.

“Daddy, I will miss you. I will pack up my stuff and wait for you to pick us up,” Gretel said before giving Mark a kiss.

However, Lyla had the feeling that the focus was not on missing Mark, rather she was in a hurry to move into that place.

“Daddy, we’ll get going then.”

Hansel and Gretel were ready to head up the stairs.

Without a word, Lyla followed behind them.

“Wait a minute.”

Mark cried out as he got down the car. He looked at Hansel and Gretel. “You two should go upstairs. I need to have a word with your mommy.”

Lyla. “...”

Why was a chill creeping up her spine? What good would come from Mark having a word with her?

“Oh!” Hansel and Gretel exchanged glances before making a move up.

Standing a meter away from Mark, Lyla spoke with a smile, “Mr. Pattinson, what’s the matter?”

With Mark coming forward a step, Lyla’s reflexes took her back a step.

Her actions caused a frown on Mark’s face.

“What’s up with you?”

“It’s just reflexes. I didn’t think...” Lyla threw her hands up in the air, indicating that it had nothing to do with her. It was not like she could do anything with her body putting her guard up against Mark.

“Reflexes, huh?” Mark lifted his brow.

The smile gave Lyla the chills. She gave a nod but Mark reached out the next second, pulling her into his embrace.

Meeting at the tip of their noses, they were merely a touch away from kissing.

“You—” Lyla scowled at him.

“It’s just my reflexes.” Mark grinned in a helpless manner.

Lyla. “...”

“What do you want to talk to me about?” Looking at him, Lyla asked.

“We are not done with the subject of importance today...” Mark answered.

Speaking of this, Lyla’s face began to blush. Fortunately for her, it was at night so it was not showing.

“What subject of importance?” With downcast eyes, she played dumb and asked. Lyla had to admit, Mark, at this very moment, was full of charm. As her heart raced, Lyla was unsure on how to deal with her emotions.

Mark’s heart was throbbing for Lyla at the moment as well. He was content to witness a rare sight of quietness and docility in her.

“It’s regarding my future happiness, of course.”

Lyla. “...”

Mark was leaping for joy within because of the bashful look on her flushed face.

“You wanted to talk to me about that?” Raising a brow, Lyla threw the question back at him.

“What else could it be?”

“I’m heading upstairs.” Lyla was ready to leave but refusing to let go, Mark held onto her.

“You—”

“Lyla Lowe, I have a place in your heart, am I right?” He whispered.

Lyla held her tongue.

“I’m not going to force you but I have a request.”

“What?”

“When you’re ready to accept me, please give me a little sign, just a little is enough,” Mark uttered.

For the proud and haughty Mark to speak in such a tone to her, she would be lying if she said that Mark’s presence did not cause an impact in her mood and life.

Only, was there a place for him in her heart?

Lyla had not sat down and thought about this question before. It could be said that she had been avoiding this question because she had no idea how to face it.

Meeting his eyes, Lyla bobbed her head.

Mark let out a smile. “I don’t know what’s holding you back, but Lyla, I trust that one day you will accept me wholeheartedly,” He firmly muttered.

Lyla smiled. “Well, you have to work on it, since you’re so sure about it.”

“Don’t worry, I will.”

With that, they stared into each other’s eyes, overwhelmed by an unspeakable emotion.

Lyla lowered her gaze. “It’s really late. The kids are still waiting upstairs. I should head up.”

Just as Lyla was about to leave, Mark gave her a gentle tug and planted a kiss on her lips.

She wanted to push him away but her arms gradually released its hold at the thought of his earlier words.
