The next day.

At 10:00 am, Mark Pattinson received a call from Eileen Dawson.

Eileen said in a frigid voice, "The small house next to Third Avenue. I’ve sent you the detailed address."

Mark warned, "Okay, but you better not be lying to me. Otherwise, I’ll make you regret it!"

"What about Logan?"

"Don't worry, as long as I see her, Logan will be safe and sound."

"Didn't we agree to release them at the same time?"

"Do you think I trust you?"

"You--"

Mark said, "Don't worry, as long as I see her, Logan will appear in front of you safely."

"It better happen! Otherwise, I’ll definitely make you regret it too!"

After the cold warning, Eileen hung up the phone.

Mark put the phone away and was just about to get into the car when Hansel came up from behind.

"Daddy, I'll go with you!"

Lingo chimed in, "Then I’ll have to go too!"

Mark looked at them and thought about it, then finally said, "You guys drive that car and follow me from behind. I’ll keep you informed if there are any changes."

Hansel nodded and said, "Okay!"

Hansel, Gretel, Lingo, and Piers drove Mark's Maserati while Mark led them in his Rolls-Royce. The two cars headed towards Third Avenue in style.

Onlookers were curious as they saw these cars driving one after another.

Within 20 minutes, they arrived at Third Avenue. Mark drove along the road and finally spotted the small house that Eileen mentioned.

It was a small abandoned house.

Mark stopped the car and immediately ran over.

The door was locked, so Mark slammed on the door fiercely. He then looked around for other openings.

"Daddy, how is it?"

"The door’s locked!"

"I'll go find something to pry it open!"

Hansel immediately ran off to the side.

Mark did not bother to look for any tools. Once he thought that Lyla was inside, he was so anxious that he looked around briefly and simply kicked the door forcefully.

Lingo stood far away with no intention to help because she felt she had done enough.

After a few kicks, the door loosened and there was a small opening. The lock was not very strong, so the door was completely kicked open at last.

Mark quickly rushed in after.

"Lyla! Lyla!"

Mark went in and shouted her name while looking for her. Once he turned around, he saw Lyla sitting not far away.

Her hands and feet were tied to a chair and her mouth was taped shut.

When Mark saw her, something seemed to scream at the bottom of his heart.

Lyla also saw him, but the difference was that her eyes were filled with fear instead of surprise. She looked at Mark and shook her head vigorously.

‘Don't!’

‘Don't come over!!!’

‘Stop!!!’

However, Mark did not understand her and hurried towards her.

"How are you?" He asked as he helped her to untie the rope on her hand.

Lyla immediately tore off the tape over her mouth the moment Mark untied her hands, then she shouted, "Mark, we’re in danger!"

However, after she said that, there was an explosion all around them. The fire spread quickly and in an instant, they were trapped inside.

At that moment, Hansel, Lingo, Piers, and Gretel had just stepped into the house and saw this scene.

Hansel shouted, "Daddy, Mommy!"

Lyla’s eyes widened in fear when she saw them and yelled, "Get out! Get out of here!"

After that, there was another explosion around them.

Lingo saw the situation and quickly pulled Hansel in her arms before she lunged outside. Piers also took Gretel in his arms and rushed out in an instant.

Mark watched all this in horror. He knew Eileen would not let them go so easily, but he did not expect her to be so cruel. At that point, his eyes glanced towards a signboard on the side and saw that this was an explosives storage.

Lyla looked at Mark nervously and said, "You should leave now!"

Mark stood in front of her and felt an indescribable calmness at that moment. He did not say anything and squatted down to continue untying the rope on Lyla’s feet.

"Go! You still have a chance to get out of here if you leave right now!"

Mark continued to untie the rope and said without raising his head, "We’ll leave together!"

Lyla looked at him and said, "It'll be too late! There are bombs all around us. Mark, listen to me. No matter what happens in the future and whoever you date, you must take good care of Hansel and Gretel. If you let them suffer even the slightest bit, I’ll haunt you even as a ghost!"

Hearing these words, Mark lifted his gaze and looked straight at her with his deep eyes as he said, "Is that all you have to say to me?"

Lyla looked at him and was momentarily in a daze. She had a lot she wanted to say and did not know what to say first. Finally, she spoke, "Don’t forget me and please take care of them!"

In the next second, Mark grabbed the back of her head and kissed her passionately...

It felt as if time had stopped at that second.

Even though there was fire all around them, they were in their own little world.

Lyla's long and luscious eyelashes were tear-ladened as she looked at the man in front of her. Tears started to stream down her cheeks.

She knew that no matter what happened in the past, their feelings for each other were real at this moment.

After a while, Mark finally let her go and said, "Lyla, I want to forget you, but you’re already deeply rooted in my heart. I’m afraid that I’ll never be able to forget you in this life, so today we’ll either leave together or die here together!"
