Lola.
Hansel felt a surge of emotion just by hearing this name.
While Felix arranged for Lyla’s transfer, Hansel called Lingo secretly.
“I’m going over with Mommy, so I’ll be leaving the external affairs to you.”
“I can’t relax with you going alone. Why don’t I come with you?”
“You’d be found out if you go.”
“What about a disguise?”
“Forget it. Hell’s Angels and Eastern Union go way back after all. I might not be able to save you if you end up in his hands, so you should remain on the outside.”
“Okay then. Contact me immediately if there’s anything.”
“Sure.”
Hansel lifted his hand, moving his lips but not his teeth while speaking before quietly terminating the call.
Lyla was soon shifted to Felix’s place.
No sooner had they left than Mark emerging in the hotel. Lingo came up from behind. “What? Anxious?”
“There’s nothing to be anxious about. Felix doesn’t love her less than me.”
“Then what are you looking at?”
“I don’t know. I’m just worried...”
Lingo did not understand love. She took a glance at Mark. “It will be alright.”
“I know.”
“What’s the plan now?”
“The members of Ghost Gate have more or less assembled so all we need to do now is wait.”
“What if, I’m saying, what if Gretel is not in her hands?” Lingo cautiously enquired. They had not gotten validation and were just relying on their intuition and suspicion after all.
“I’m hoping that Gretel isn’t with her.” Pale in the face, Mark remarked.
Who was Lola? Although she was a woman, she was more wicked than any man.
This was not the issue though.
The real issue was his worst fear — that Lola would experiment on Gretel like a lab rat...
“It won’t be long, it won’t be long until we find Gretel,” Lingo uttered.
She had no idea what Gretel was going through but for a child less than ten years old, this was an eternal nightmare.
……
Lola was preparing a chemical when she received a message from Felix to come on over.
For some reason, she had a funny feeling about the ordeal.
“Put on hold and wait for my return.” After leaving these words, Lola rushed out.
Her gut was telling her that the matter may not be as simple. Felix would not see her for no reason. However, something must have happened for Felix to look for her so soon since their meeting a few days ago.
With a lot of things occurring the past few days, it really got Lola into thinking.
Nevertheless, she soon realized what was going on once she arrived there.
“You’re an expert with poison. Help me save a person,” Felix nervously said.
“Save a person? Who?”
“Follow me in.”
Felix brought Lola into a room.
Lyla was lying there while Hansel kept watch over her by the bed. The poor and pitiful look could really tug at heartstrings.
Gretel resembled Lyla the most.
The identical face, even bearing and tone of voice were exactly the same.
The moment Lola walked in and caught a glimpse of Lyla, she thought she was looking at Gretel.
She clenched her fists.
Hansel was studying Lola at a corner. Her first reaction would not be surprised if she had never seen Gretel. Even though she kept herself in check, the subtle change in her emotion was telltale signs.
“This is her. I don’t know what kind of poisoning she has. The only person who can save her now is you.” Felix looked at her.
Lola fixated on Lyla without a word. She was lost in her thoughts.
With a frown, Felix darted a stare at Lola but the latter was still out of it.
“What’s wrong?” Felix asked.
Lola snapped out of her thoughts. “Huh? I will do my best.”
“Why are you a nervous wreck?” Felix posed a question. It could be due to his long stay in this line of work, but his keen observation had him thinking.
“Oh, nothing. Let me go over and take a look.” Lola approached the bed.
Hansel conscientiously gave way but he kept his eyes on Lola.
Lola did a physical on Lyla and frowned. Nothing pointed to poisoning.
“What’s the situation?” Felix drew near to learn more. He was already thrown for a loop to see Lyla lying unconscious.
Lola was puzzled about how to answer him.
This was because she had no idea what the hell was going on.
She was not poisoned, yet was said to be poisoned.
Was this a test?
If that were true, what about Felix? What part did he play in this scheme?
Lola turned to look at Felix. The worry on his face did not seem fake. Having known him for so long, she had never seen him like this.
However, what was the deal if this was not the case?
She glanced at Lyla who was lying in bed and Hansel was at a corner. Did they pick up on something?
Impossible.
She had closed off the information. How could they possibly find out?
Lola was overwhelmed with mixed feelings.
“What is it? Just tell me,” Felix urged.
