Rotten Twins: Making a CEO a Daddy นิยาย บท 274

Lyla looked at him in the eye. “Felix, I know you’re good to me. I know that but we can’t go back because I’m no longer alone.”

She had explained well enough who she had in her life and who she needed.

However, refusing to believe the truth, Felix said, “I mentioned before that I will think of Hansel and Gretel as our own. Lyla...”

“I believe you.” Lyla cut him off before he could finish. “I believe that you would do so, but Felix, believing is one thing and the truth is another. Do you think that Mark will agree to that?”

With a frown, Felix turned his gaze towards Lyla. His eyes bore hurt and emptiness.

Lyla took a deep breath and uttered, “Felix, you know I’m getting married soon. I wish to have your blessing because you’re closer to me than family in this world.”

They had been sensible in avoiding this subject since Felix’s return. Nevertheless, not bringing up the subject did not mean that the problem did not exist. With time passing day by day, the day of the wedding was around the corner.

“I never thought of becoming your family. Lyla, did it come to this because I was late with my confession?” Felix stared at her and asked.

Lyla averted her gaze.

“I believe that you would already know without me putting my feelings for you out in the open. Lyla, I like you. You know that,” Felix said.

“Felix.” Lyla’s voice was feeble.

Felix walked up to her. “Did it come to this because I held my tongue?”

Lyla gazed at him. “Do you think that I’m that sort of a person?

“If I liked you, I will say something even if you don’t,” Lyla replied.

Felix was dumbstruck. The words he never wanted to hear were put out plainly.

Lyla fixated on him. “You know about my past. Since meeting you, you’re the one who changed my life, but Felix, I see you as family who I treasure very much. I don’t want to lose you for any reason.”

“In that case, come with me. You will never lose me,” Felix stared into her eyes and uttered. He was on the brink of despair and helplessness. He would do anything as long as Lyla went with him.

Studying his face, Lyla was up a creek without a paddle. “Felix, don’t you understand? I have someone in my life now. I can’t possibly just pack up and leave.”

“Don’t I stand a chance?” Felix threw a question.

Lyla had no idea how to answer him.

She had already made it very clear and to talk about it further would only jeopardize their newly-repaired relationship.

Pursing her lips, Lyla fell silent. However, the message was clear enough.

Felix curled his lips into a bitter smile, his eyes wandered beyond the blue sky for long before speaking, “Didn’t you want to find out about my return? I’ll tell you right now...”

Lyla turned her attention to him.

“I came back for you. I want you to come with me.”

“Felix...”

“I’m well aware that you won’t leave with me!” Felix continued the sentence for her.

Lyla faced him with a frown.

“It’s your say whether or not to come with but it’s my business when it comes to my capability to leave with you,” He uttered.

Lyla sighed. “Felix, why can’t you understand...”

“I very well do. Don’t worry, I want you to willingly leave with me and will not force you.” Felix enunciated each word clearly.

There was nothing more to be said at that point.

Even if Lyla wanted to, no words could escape her lips.

Felix smiled at her. “Alright, it’s getting late. Let’s not talk about it anymore. I’ll send you back.”

“Felix...”

“Let’s go. Don’t tell me you want to stay here with me? I have no objections.” Felix grinned.

He returned to his cheeky self in a mere instant.

Seeing him like this, Lyla did not know what to say.

In the end, she remained quiet as she helplessly followed him into his car.

Mark waited with bated breath at home, glancing at the time again and again.

Hansel and Gretel helped themselves to some fruits in the living room. Looking at Mark getting his shorts in a knot, Gretel blurted, “Daddy, go if you’re that worried.”

“Worried? Worried about what?” Mark argued. “I’m not worried.”

“Oh, really?” Gretel enquired while munching on a watermelon.

“Of course,” Mark retorted. That said, he was on pins and needles.

“Alright then.” Gretel nodded. She continued to lean against Hansel, watching videos while observing Mark.

Mark may have denied it but he was ridden with restlessness.

He kept looking at the time, at his watch.

It was almost to the point of pacing back and forth.

Godd*mnit.

Why was she not back yet? He would let her know during her return what the consequences were for coming home this late.

Mark sat on the sofa but his eyes were focused on the window...

With a smile on their faces, Hansel and Gretel studied him in secret.

Now they were bearing witness to the meaning of being in denial.

The pair helplessly shook their heads. Mommy really deserved what was coming.

Just then, the sound of a car was heard at the door. At the same time, Mark jolted up from his seat and headed towards the door.

As expected, it was Felix’s car.

Lyla and Felix got out of the car. The two of them were standing facing each other.

“I’ll get going then,” Lyla muttered.

Felix nodded. “Okay, get some rest.”

“Sure.” Lyla bobbed her head. She was about to leave when Felix reached out, out of the blue to hold her in his embrace.

Lyla was taken aback.

Felix’s sudden movement caught her off guard.

“You...” Without thinking, she tried to push him away.
