Mark rolled his eyes at her, and his eyes inadvertently swept over to Neil. “Do you need reimbursement too?”

Amanda nodded repeatedly with a bitter look. “Of course, lower-class people like us will go bankrupt if we go on that trip!”

Neil was particularly upbeat and immediately opened his mouth with a smile. “I’ll support you!”

Hearing this, Mark raised his brows, as if to say, ‘Look, there’s someone willing to support you’.

Not only did Amanda not appreciate it, she even glared at him. “Who wants you to support them?”

“Me, of course. I’ll cover all your expenses in France.”

Amanda was exasperated and rolled her eyes. “Why do you keep popping up everywhere? I don’t want you to cover any expenses! I don’t care!”

“It’s your business whether or not you care, and it’s my business whether or not I pay!” Neil said with a smile, as if he would never get angry.

Amanda was completely helpless. This kind of person was impossible to reason with, so she simply gave up and sat to the side to chat with Lyla about shooting the wedding photos.

Neil was not angry and in no hurry. Rather, he sat across from her, listening to her conversation with interest. Even if he could not understand, it was as if he was happy just by looking at her.

Lyla sat by the side and watched, and smiled wordlessly.

He kept staring, but Amanda pretended not to see. If he liked to stare so much, then just let him stare!

Amanda chatted with Lyla for a while, asking about what to bring and what to shop for when they were there. It was always a joy for women to learn about these things.

Neil continued to listen without saying anything. When Mark came over with red wine and handed him a glass, his eyes were slightly helpless, as if to say, ‘Look, this is what women are like, and this what women talk about and the lives they live. Neil laughed, showing that he was not far from that kind of life, but he was willing!

He raised the glass and clinked it against Mark’s. The two men drank leisurely, listening to the women’s conversation. Although they did not understand, they could still remember some key words, and although they were not saying anything, they had their own thoughts.

At that moment, Hansel and Gretel came in, looking slightly anxious. “Daddy, Mommy!”

Mark looked at them and frowned. “Did something happen?”

Hansel took a deep breath and said, “Are you guys going to Paris to take the wedding photos?”

“Yes, why? You two will be going too since we have to take family photos then.” Lyla said with a smile.

Hearing that, Hansel’s eyes flashed with a trace of difficulty.

“What’s wrong? If you have something to say, say it.” Mark could tell that something was bothering them and asked directly.

Hansel did not hide it and said, “A problem cropped up at the base, so Gretel and I have to go back.”

Lyla’s brows furrowed in worry. Although she knew that they had to leave sooner or later, when the time really came, she still felt reluctant to be apart from them.

“Do you have to leave now?” Lyla asked. The situation happened so suddenly that she could not accept it yet.

“Yeah, it’s quite urgent, so we have to leave now. Mommy, when we’re done, we’ll go straight to France to find you, okay? We’ll take our family photo then.” Hansel tried to coax Lyla out of fear that she would be unhappy.

Lyla frowned. Although she was reluctant, she did not say anything because she felt like it would not change anything. If she said anything more, it would only add unnecessary burden to the both of them.

“Yeah, Mommy, we’ll go to France to look for you immediately after we finish our business, okay?” Gretel asked too.

After thinking about it, Lyla nodded. “Alright!”

Only God knew how much reluctance she had in her heart when she said that.

She also knew that they were dedicated to their work, and everytime they left, it represented an impending crisis. How was she supposed to feel at ease when they were still so small?

However, she knew that this was something that simply could not be stopped.

Thus, even though she was reluctant, she still had to agree.

Hansel and Gretel did not expect Lyla to agree so promptly.

“Mommy, are you serious?” Gretel asked excitedly.

“Can I say I wasn’t?” Lyla retorted.

Gretel immediately started giggling and said like a pampered child, “I always said that Mommy is the most sensible person. She won’t get angry, right, Mommy?” Gretel said to Hansel and looked at Lyla joyfully.

“Save the flattery. If you don’t go to France when the time comes, I’ll get angry.” That was a half-truth. They could not tell if she was telling the truth or faking it, but according to their plan, there should be no problem.

The twins nodded repeatedly. “Mm-hmm, we will!”

Although Lyla was not at ease, in order to let them both leave with peace of mind, she still forced out a smile.
