Rotten Twins: Making a CEO a Daddy นิยาย บท 183

With Lyla’s medical report given the clear, she could be discharged today.

J mentioned that someone would be visiting in the afternoon. Lyla wanted to leave before the person’s arrival but Mark kept dilly-dallying, refusing to let her go. Needless to say, Lyla was dumbfounded by the visitors in the afternoon.

Two members of the Design Team, Ethan and a colleague, as well as several those from the Finance Department turned up.

They probably heard about the news and made plans to visit together.

It never crossed their minds that Lyla would be present.

The lot were surprised. “Ms. Lowe, why-why are you here as well?” A colleague threw a question to Lyla.

Lyla pressed her lips together and smiled. “I’m also here to pay Mr. Pattinson a visit.”

“Oh, oh.” The colleagues gave a nod.

A member of the Department of Design spoke up, “Lyla, you have been absent at the office for two days. Did something happen?”

Lyla, "..."

Hearing these words, Mark sat in bed and curled his lips. He was not worried that people might misunderstand their relationship. As a matter of fact, he was eager to let everyone know about it.

He did not want to keep his relationship a secret at all.

Lyla awkwardly chuckled. “Something came up at home.”

“Did you find out that Mr. Pattinson was hurt too?”

“Yes, I just happened to be here for a friend but noticed Mr. Pattinson was here as well, so I came over,” Lyla uttered with a smile. She was able to whip up a story with ease. It was believable after all.

“Oh, oh.”

Everyone bobbed their heads, without thinking too much into it.

Watching on the sidelines, Mark curled his lips. This woman sure had a knack for lying.

Nevertheless, Mark was in love with her many faces.

Just then, a nurse entered the room. Noticing the change of clothes on Lyla, she said with a grin. “Ms. Lowe, are you all packed up? Are you ready to be discharged?”

Lyla, "..."

Everyone turned their gaze to Lyla. What was the meaning of this?

Discharge?

Lyla let out an awkward smile. “Yes, I’m all packed up.”

“With you gone, Mr. Pattinson will be all lonely here.”

Lyla, "..."

Since when did the nurses in the hospital have a big mouth?

Faced with a dilemma to answer, Lyla merely nodded with a smile.

The nurse went in to do a routine check-up on Mark. “You’re on the right path of recovery. You’d soon be discharged in a few days at this rate.”

She proceeded to joint down his vitals before taking her leave.

“Mr. Pattinson, I’ll get going if there’s nothing else.”

“Okay.”

“You should stay and chat,” Lyla told her colleagues and quickly got out of there.

No sooner had she left than the people began to voice out their curiosity. “Mr. Pattinson, was Ms. Lowe hospitalized here?”

“Wasn’t she here to visit you?”

“...”

Following the series of questions, everyone’s minds were really venturing into the gutter.

Mark merely put on a happy expression without uttering a word, allowing their imaginations to run wild. He did not intend the matter under wraps anyway but Lyla would probably flip if he were to let the cat out of the bag.

It would be of no relation to him if everyone worked it out on their own though.

……

After coming out of the hospital, Lyla took a long inhale.

The past two days in the hospital had really pushed her to the edge.

Not only did the doctor catch her and Mark together red-handed, but they also ran into their colleagues too.

It was so embarrassing she could dig a hole and bury herself in it.

Thank goodness, she had fully recovered.

Taking another deep breath, Lyla was about to hail a cab.

“Mommy.” Someone called out to her. Lyla was no stranger to this voice because no one else was capable of making such a mushy and soft voice. It was simply easy on the ear.

She turned over to Hansel and Gretel waving at her from a convertible. Sitting in the front was Lingo, who was wearing a huge pair of sunglasses that covered half her beautiful face.

Seeing that it was them, Lyla drew close with a smile.

“Mommy, I hope we weren’t too late,” Gretel sweetly remarked.

“Not at all. You came just in time.”

Hansel eagerly grabbed over the stuff in Lyla’s hands. “Mommy, please get on.”

Nodding, Lyla took a seat onboard.

The car accelerated with a ‘vroom’ the moment she settled down.

Having taken rides in Mark’s car, Lyla was not that panicky.

Nevertheless, she was worried that the children might be scared. She turned around to see the twins enjoying the rush of adrenaline.

They were even howling in joy.

Lyla was rendered speechless.

Once again, she underestimated the pair.

The twenty-minute journey was completed in ten minutes. Parking the car, Lingo turned to Lyla. “You weren’t holding your sea tight to your seatbelt.”

Lyla got out of the car. “I’m used to it.”

Lingo saw Lyla in a new light. Even Priers would get carsick carpooling with her but Lyla remained unfazed.

Come to think of it, the woman who gave birth to Hansel and Gretel would not be some ordinary person.

Back at home.

Lyla entered the house only to be dumbstruck.

She was welcomed by a floor of trash — bottles of red wine, white wine, beer...
