Rotten Twins: Making a CEO a Daddy นิยาย บท 182

Coming out of the hospital, the harmless look on Kathleen’s face turned grimacing.

Lyla Lowe.

And that other woman.

She was definitely going to make them pay.

They were the ones who killed her baby. She was not going to let them off easily.

As for Mark...

Kathleen’s heart ached at the thought of him but it was no longer heart-wrenching.

Mark Pattinson, you will regret your decision.

……

Lyla was bored to death just sitting in the hospital.

Facing Mark daily, in particular, gave Lyla the illusion that she was becoming more like him — without a moral compass.

Hence, she went out for a stroll while Mark was getting his wounds redressed.

The field outside the hospital was huge. There was a luxuriant wooded area, fresh and green. The sunlight filtering past the leaves gave out a rather relaxing and unwinding feeling.

Enjoying a moment of peace and escape from the daily chaos, Lyla found a spot to sit down and basked under the afternoon sun.

With the clock ticking away, Lyla did not believe that it was a waste of time. On the contrary, she really indulged in the stillness of time.

Just then, a ball rolled to her feet. Opening her eyes, Lyla noticed the ball and picked it up.

A little girl came running over minutes later. “Miss, this is my ball. Can you give it back?”

Lyla smiled at the adorable girl. “Sure.” She handed the ball back to her.

“Thank you.”

“You’re welcome.”

The girl was about to leave when she was struck by a thought, prompting her to retrieve a piece of candy from her pocket. “Miss, this is for you.”

With a gummy bear and the girl’s innocent face in plain sight, Lyla accepted the gift with a smile. “Thank you.”

“You’re welcome.

The girl then took off merrily.

Lyla earnestly looked on with a smile, feeling sorry for Hansel and Gretel out of the sudden.

They should be at this innocent age but the kids...

She often fretted over them.

That said, Lyla was still proud of them.

She took in the sights. Although the people were in the hospital, perhaps due to ill health or injuries, those here would emerge as pure, authentic, and simple.

Lyla watched on, feeling renewed.

“Lyla?”

A voice was heard behind her.

Taken aback, Lyla turned around and observed Arden standing nearby.

“Senior.” Lyla was surprised.

“Why are you here?” He took notice of the hospital gown she was wearing. “What happened to you? Was there an accident?”

With Arden hot with emotions, Lyla felt awkward. She grinned. “Oh, nothing. I... got into a car accident but it was only a scrape.”

“Car accident?” Arden frowned. “How are you feeling? Are you okay? Did the doctors do a good job with the examination?”

“Yes, I’m fine.”

“That’s great.” Arden finally relaxed and nodded.

Lyla stared at him. “Senior, what brings you here?”

“I’m here visiting a friend. I didn’t think I’d see you here,” Arden explained.

Lyla bobbed her head.

The pair had not met since the last time. They both were clear on the situation between them albeit it was not said out loud.

“Are you alone?” Arden asked.

“Of course not.”

A cold voice joined in on the conversation before Lyla had her chance to speak. Mark came up from behind and despite wearing a hospital gown, there was still a noble bearing to him that was clearly visible.

“Why are you here?” Arden posed the question to Mark.

Mark let out a smile. “I got hurt and was brought to the hospital for saving my beloved.”

He then pulled Lyla into his arms.

Fixating on the arm locking Lyla, Arden could feel the rage brewing within him. “What’s the meaning of this?”

“It means that you’re late. The early bird gets the worm and nothing you say will change that fact.”

Lyla, "..."

Mark was so full of himself. That tone was so annoying.

Arden scowled, at a loss for words.

Lyla frowned as well. Instead of keeping her distance and pushing him away like she normally would, she uttered, “Cut it out.”

“What did I do? Am I wrong?”

Lyla helplessly shook her head.

Sometimes, there was no stopping when Mark pulled childish acts.

Nevertheless, the interaction between the couple appeared to be flirting in Arden’s eyes. It was such an eyesore.

“Lyla, you guys are...”

“He did save me this time,” Lyla faintly muttered, refusing to offer further explanation.

Needless to say, they all knew what was going on without putting it plainly.

Some things were better left unspoken since Arden did not bring the matter out in the open. It was best not to burn bridges in case they met again.

Nonetheless, Mark refused to back down. He said, “Darling, why don’t you tell him how sad you were for me?”

Lyla, "..."

Mark definitely did it deliberately.
