They arrived in Rome at 4:00 p.m. and it was already dark when they checked into the hotel.
Like what Mark said before, it was impossible for them to start searching for Gretel once they arrived.
They thought they were closer to Gretel but when they arrived, they still felt a thousand miles away from her.
They felt empty, they had no idea where to search for her and how to start.
They did not know why those men had kidnapped Gretel and what they wanted from her.
The worries for Gretel only doubled when they arrived in Rome.
Mark stood at the window and looked at the foreign country with his deep gaze. Something was going on in his mind.
It was then that the doorbell rang.
He turned around and saw Hansel come in with Lingo.
“Daddy, Mummy!”
“What’s wrong?” Mark asked as he walked over.
“It’s all ready. I’ve contacted the locals and they will contact us once they have any news on Gretel,” Hansel said.
Mark nodded.
“Even if we are in Rome, it’s the same as Alpine. If people find out that Hell’s Angel is operating in Rome, it will cause a huge commotion. So, we can only operate in the dark during the search.”
Mark nodded. “I guess the only thing we can do now is wait.”
Hansel nodded. Even though he did not want to admit it, those were the facts.
Then, Lyla said, “We’ve already travelled all the way here, we will find Gretel! As long as she’s still here, we will find her!”
Hansel nodded. “Mummy is right.”
It was then that Hansel frowned.
Mark and Lyla noticed the uncomfortable look on him. “What’s wrong with you?”
“I’m fine. Maybe it’s the lack of sleep, my head hurts.”
“Go to bed early then. We still have a lot to do.”
“Mhmm. Okay. Daddy, Mummy, you guys better get some rest as well.”
“You too.”
Hansel then left the room with Lingo. Right after he walked out, he felt weak and had to lean on the wall.
Worried, Lingo went up to him and asked, “What’s wrong?”
Hansel lifted his arm. “I don’t know but it hurts.”
Lingo checked his arm and body but did not find anything unusual. “There’s nothing here.”
Hansel checked his arm and body and he too did not find anything, not even any signs of a rash or bruises, but he felt excruciating pain.
He put his hand over his body and endured the pain.
“I’ll bring you to the hospital.”
Hansel shook his head. “It’s fine. It’s still bearable.”
“But…”
“Let’s just go back to the room first.”
Hansel and Lingo returned to their room.
Lingo was a proud woman yet she became a babysitter tonight and took good care of Hansel. She even grabbed a cold towel for him to ease the pain.
“How are you? Feeling better?”
Hansel nodded. “Yeah, a lot better.”
Lingo sighed a breath of relief and sat down beside the bed. “What’s wrong with your body? There’s no cut or injuries, nothing at all, why does it hurt so bad?”
Hansel frowned but kept quiet.
Lingo poked him and said, “Come on, say something.”
Hansel regained his senses and said, “What?”
“What are you thinking?”
Hansel was in deep thought but he said nevertheless, “I felt the same when I was younger.”
“Younger? You sound like you are an adult now.” Lingo chuckled when she heard that.
Hansel rolled his eyes at her.
Lingo nodded awkwardly. “Okay, then what?”
Hansel said, “When I was younger, I remember Gretel fell down and hurt her knee. I didn’t fall or anything but I felt the pain as well.”
Intrigued, Lingo bolted up, “You are saying you two can sense each other?”
Hansel nodded. “Yeah, but only at certain times.”
Lingo thought about it seriously. “I heard that twins usually can sense each other’s presence and feel each other’s pain. I thought that was bullsh*t but it seems like it’s real.”
She was quite surprised.
“Gretel and I are rarely hurt, so it’s not often for this to happen.”
“So does it mean that Gretel is still safe for now?”
“At least I am sure she’s still alive,” Hansel said. He did not know whether it was bad news or good news.
“Then why didn’t you tell your mummy just now?”
“I don’t want her to be worried and we don’t know what happened to Gretel. Telling her will only make her worry more, so it’s better to keep things as it is.”
“I guess you are right.” Lingo nodded in agreement.
Hansel then looked at his arm. The pain had faded but it left a deep impression in him.
He had no idea what his sister was going through.
“Gretel, wait for me! You must wait for me!”
……
Meanwhile, Gretel was lying down on a glass bed and a syringe was being inserted in her body.
“Must we continue this?”
“She has a strong will, she’s perfect as an experiment subject.”
