There was just something comical about the pair that left Lyla in stitches.
Mark and Felix exchanged glances before helplessly averting their gaze.
Thus, after cleaning up all afternoon, the job was finally completed.
Lyla brought some flowers and placed them in the living room. With the place tidied up, it brought back memories of when she once lived here.
Lyla looked towards Felix. “Make do with this place. I’ll help you find another place if it’s not to your liking.”
“It’s okay. The place is great.”
Lyla loved the place but she knew that it would be difficult for Felix since he was used to more luxurious accommodations.
“Great, stay right here then. Let me know if you need anything.”
“I will.”
Just then, Mark took out a name card and handed it over. “I think it’s best if you call me. It’s not very convenient for her to get out.”
Staring at the name card, Felix accepted it. “I will.”
“Okay, it’s getting late. You should get some rest. We should get going,” Mark said.
Felix did not keep them longer. “Sure. Thank you, Mr. Pattinson, for helping me to clean up the place.”
Mark pulled a sour look. “You’re welcome.”
Curling a smile, Felix fixated on Lyla. “I’ll give you a call another day.”
Lyla nodded. “Okay.”
Mark was feeling bitter as he stared at them, prompting him to pull Lyla into his embrace. “Alright, we should go. You have a wedding gown to try on.
“Mr. Smith, we’ll see ourselves out.” He then left while holding onto Lyla.
Lyla helplessly looked at Felix. “I’ll get going then.”
“Sure.” Felix nodded.
As the elevator door closed, Lyla darted a helpless look at Mark and sighed. “Tell me, Mr. Pattinson. How did you find me?”
Mark turned his gaze elsewhere when the subject was brought up, refusing to speak.
Lyla turned to fixate on his face. “Tell me.”
“Tell you what?” With his gaze averted, Mark pretended not to know anything.
Lyla looked into his eyes. “Playing dumb, huh?”
Mark. “...”
“So you’re not going to tell me? Fine, you can go back yourself while I head up for a meal.” Lyla pressed the elevator button. Seeing this, Mark swiftly stopped her.
“Darling, must you do this to me?” Grabbing her hand, Mark leaned against her body.
“Are you going to tell me or not?”
It was not as though Mark had the guts to not comply.
He grabbed Lyla’s hand and fondled around the watch area.
She was hit with a realization. So it was this.
“Are you still angry?” Mark asked.
What more could Lyla say?
“Alright, don’t be angry, okay? I didn’t get angry when you went out to eat with Felix yet refused to take my call.” Mark soothed her.
“What? You don’t trust me?” Lyla raised a brow.
“No way.”
“Then why come look for me through such a way?”
“That’s two different things.” Mark answered, “I trust you but that doesn’t mean I’m okay with that b*stard.”
Lyla. “...”
“I can even tell with my foot that he has an ulterior motive towards you. You better keep a distance from him.”
Gazing at him, Lyla raised her brow. “Well, show me how you’re able to tell with your foot then.”
Mark replied. “... Darling, it was only a metaphor.”
Lyla met his gaze. “I can’t possibly hide from him. I’m the only person he knows here. Mark, you should understand.”
Of course Mark did.
He was not sure what was going on between her and Felix but one thing was for sure, there had yet to be anything that would lead to bad blood between them and stop them from seeing each other.
He trusted Lyla.
However, it was a different story with Felix.
This time, he definitely came with a purpose, and his purpose was Lyla.
Letting out a sigh, Mark turned to Lyla. “I do understand but I can’t help myself from feeling jealous. How can I relax with such a man by your side?”
While speaking, he seemed to act like a baby. Lyla watched on in helplessness and amusement.
“Don’t get mad at me, okay?” Mark uttered.
Lyla kept her mouth shut and turned her eyes elsewhere.
Seizing the opportunity, Mark leaned forward and was about to have his way with Lyla when the door to the elevator opened with a ping.
Outside stood a few elderly women, who stared blankly at the sight.
Beyond embarrassed, Lyla shoved Mark away and it was only then that Mark realized the presence of others.
With a smile, Lyla was about to step out of the elevator when the old ladies darted a look at her. “Ms. Lowe?”
“Uh, yes?”
“Oh, so you are Ms. Lowe. You’re on TV a lot lately,” The old lady happily remarked.
Lyla awkwardly grinned.
“Is this your fiancé?”
“Uh, yes.”
Mark straightened out his clothes before giving them a smile. “Hello, all.”
“Ms. Lowe, your fiancé sure is handsome.”
Mark grew smug at the comment. The smile on his face widened, bringing his charm to full play.
Letting out a grin, Lyla pulled him away to leave.
“Ms. Lowe, you haven't been staying here recently?”
“Huh, yes.”
