She opened the car door and sat inside before the car drove away slowly.

Mark Pattinson looked at Lyla’s silhouette from behind. His eyes were as dark as pitch.

“Did she cause you trouble again?!” Lily asked worriedly.

“No, she simply wanted to show off, that’s all!” Lyla answered.

By the time Lyla got back home, the alcoholic effect on her had mostly dissipated.

Even though it was midnight, her darlings had not gone to bed yet. They were waiting for her.

Whenever she thought of her two darlings, she would feel that there was always hope in life.

“Darlings, mommy’s home!” Lyla exclaimed.

Hansel was in the kitchen.

“Mommy, you’re home?” Hansel asked as he walked over to her. When he came closer to her, he frowned. “Mommy, you drank!”

Lyla became speechless. Gosh, she had forgotten about his reminders. Nevertheless, the circumstances had left her with no choice.

She smiled fondly at her darlings. “Just a tiny bit!”

Hansel frowned.

At that moment, Gretel ran over to her as swiftly as the wind.

“Mommy, did you enjoy yourself tonight?” She blinked her beautiful eyes and asked expectantly, “Any surprises?”

“Ugh, it wasn’t bad.” Lyla recalled the scene of Mark Pattinson kissing her, and she blushed. Her facial expressions changed slightly. It was a feeling of shock instead of surprise.

“Why is your face so red, Mommy?” Gretel watched her mother’s facial expressions very closely.

“Really? I don’t think so,” Lyla defended herself.

“It is. Are you hiding something from us, Mommy?” she asked curiously.

“Could be due to drinking.” Yes, that had to be the reason.

She did not want to linger on the awkward question any longer and quickly switched topics. “Hansel, it’s late. What are you doing?”

“I know that you haven’t eaten, so I’m preparing noodles for you!” Hansel replied.

Lyla walked over to him. “Hansel, you’re indeed mommy’s good boy!” Just as Lyla was about to give him a kiss, Hansel pushed her away with a scornful look.

“Mommy, I think you better take a shower first!” Hansel knitted his child-like eyebrows.

Lyla was at a loss for words.

‘My dear Hansel, it’s a little too obvious that you despise mommy, isn’t it?

‘How could you do that?!’

Well, she deserved it. After all, she had broken her promises!

Her heart felt warm after she finished her son’s homemade noodles. Then, she took her bath obediently.

After she took a few steps, Hansel reminded her, “Mommy, remember to bring your own clean clothes!”

Lyla was stunned. She turned her head and looked at Hansel. Frowning, she tapped her head and went to her own room to fetch her clean clothes.

What a mischievous kid. Sometimes, she even wondered who was more like the mother and the son?

After Lyla took a shower, she lay down on the bed. There was no sign of sleepiness.

She reminisced about Mark Pattinson’s daring kiss again and how she had nearly lost herself. She blushed.

He was a dangerous and autocratic man. It would be wise to stay far away from him…

The next day, Lyla woke up to make breakfast as usual.
