‘Is he worried about me?’

Blake finished reading the documents in a few flips. When he looked up at Kim, his expression looked colder than before as he said, “You did this during your free time?”

Kim was surprised because she did not know what could have happened. Confused, she responded, “Huh?”

“If I remember correctly, your job is to tutor Winson, but someone from the secretary table told me that you’ve been waiting in the lounge for over two hours. I thought I asked you to make a choice before this.”

“I…” Kim flushed and paused for a moment. “I heard that the project is facing some problems, so I thought I could lend a helping hand.”

“There are more than a hundred men and women working under me. I didn’t hire all of them to do nothing. Do you know that you are stealing their jobs? If you want their job, what about your current one? Do you still want to keep your current job?!”

Kim had never seen Blake this angry before, so she was frightened, and she stammered, “I...I-I didn’t…”

“Get out!”

After the fierce scolding, Blake glanced at Joe who went up to Kim right away. He said softly, “Ms. Jackson, I’ll see you out.”

Kim had never been criticized this badly before. Her eyes were red, but she was strong enough to not break down in tears.

There was a short hallway in between the CEO’s office and the secretary department, and during that little journey, Kim realized something.

She had gotten it all wrong, Winson was the key to Blake’s heart. She should not have risked her current job to be a busybody and make him mad.

Kim stared at Joe begrudgingly before she said, “Did you know?”

Of course, Joe knew. Otherwise, he would not have given her hints to leave and refused to look at her proposal. Still, he had not made it clear enough. He let Kim embarrass herself in front of Blake and even made the boss mad.

Joe did not answer her question. The reason he even gave her the subtle hint was that she had done a little something for the project. Maybe it was not as obvious and sincere as he thought, but it had still been a hint.
