“Duh, I’m calling Piers to stop him,” Hansel spoke in a matter-of-fact.
“Are you kidding me? All our efforts will be a bust if he goes there.”
“I can’t just sit by and watch my daddy...”
“Don’t you trust your daddy?”
“Sure, I trust him but who knows if he will do something stupid?” Hansel wanted to take hold of the phone. “Give it back!”
“No. It will be for nothing if our plans fall through.”
“Lingo!”
“Trust him if you have already chosen to. Don’t be so anal about the details.” Lingo stuffed the phone into her pocket before getting down on the ground to continue observing through the binoculars.
Hansel was left without a choice.
It was not as though he could go against Lingo. Since Hansel was still worried about the situation there, he laid on his tummy to watch as well.
However, the situation inside was no longer visible.
“What-what’s going on?” Hansel glanced around the place.
“I don’t know.”
“Why can’t I see anything?”
“Well, we wouldn’t have missed it if you didn’t try to make the call,” Lingo uttered.
Hansel wanted to give her a piece of his mind, but it was not the time. Tossing the binoculars aside, he got up and ran.
“Hey, where are you going?” Lingo asked.
Hansel bolted off without looking back.
Lingo knew what Hansel was up to without him putting it into words. She hurled the binoculars aside before catching up.
Arriving at the door of the hotel room, Hansel was about to ring the doorbell when Lingo stopped him in time.
“Hey, what are you doing?” Lingo enquired.
“Oh, quit it, Lingo. I might get another sibling from a different mother if you don’t cut the crap.”
Lingo helplessly sighed. “I mean, can you not act on impulse?” She pulled out a room key card.
Hansel was surprised. “Where did this come from?”
“From the reception desk, of course.” Lingo drew near and gently swiped the door open.
“Why would they give it to you?” Hansel probed. Realizing that the door was opened, he immediately hushed his tone.
“I have my ways,” she whispered.
Without a word, Hansel quietly sneaked in.
Lingo was in front while he was behind.
They planned to quietly call Mark out.
Nevertheless, they made it into the room only to realize Delilah was lying in bed alone.
“Where is he?” Hansel asked.
Lingo gazed at him and gestured towards the bathroom. Hansel quickly went to search over there.
In the end, the pair regrouped but Mark was still nowhere in sight.
“Let’s get out and talk,” Lingo instructed.
After giving a nod, Hansel and Lingo quietly slipped out.
Once outside, they let out a sigh of relief.
“Where did Daddy go?” Hansel questioned in doubt.
“He must have satisfied his urge and ran away.”
“No way!” Hansel disagreed.
“How is it impossible?”
“It only takes five to six minutes to get from there to here. Daddy can’t be that quick,” he answered.
Lingo chuckled at the remark. “Uh, looks like you have confidence in your daddy.”
“Duh!” Hansel said. The dignity of a man should always be defended.
“It’s better to put our brains together and figure out where your daddy went,” Lingo retorted.
Hansel gave it a thought before picking up his phone to call Mark.
...
With the call unanswered, Hansel frowned. “No one is picking up.”
“What the hell is your daddy doing?”
“Who knows? Let’s go back and discuss.” Hansel decided.
With Lingo in agreement, they made the trip back together.
Once they were back.
Mark was already waiting for them at home.
Hansel and Lingo had a weird look on their face following his presence there.
“Daddy, why are you at home?” Hansel asked.
“Where should I be if not at home?”
“Weren’t you at the hotel? I...” He stopped short after catching a glimpse of Lyla who was nearby.
“I was done with my business so I came home,” Mark awkwardly replied. Truth be told, it never occurred to him that things would progress to this.
Mark’s evasiveness was apparent in his tone. Lingo lifted a smile. “Oh? But I saw with my own eyes that you and Delilah fell into bed... Mr. Pattinson, aren’t you finishing a little too fast?”
Mark, “...”
Sitting on pins and needles, he glanced at Lyla before shooting a stare at Lingo. “Quit the nonsense.”
“It’s not nonsense. Not only did I see it, but your son also did too. Otherwise, we wouldn’t have been in a rush to look for you at the hotel,” Lingo cheerfully replied, not minding at all and was even delighted if the matter got blown out of proportion.
Mark awkwardly turned to Lyla.
The smile on the latter’s face grew brighter.
Got into bed, huh...
Great.
Fine.
Mark looked at Lingo. “Quit it. It was an accident.”
“An accident even though you shared a kiss?” Widening her eyes, Lingo innocently threw a question.
Frustrated, Mark looked daggers at her. It was a deliberate act by this woman!
Mark turned his gaze toward Lyla with worry, only to find her still letting out a gentle smile like a summer’s breeze. However, the smile behind that face gave him the chills.
Put in a spot, Mark explained, “Don’t listen to her. It’s not like that...”
“I saw it. I even called you but you didn’t answer.” Hansel jumped in.
Mark, “...”
Life was hard enough so Hansel should not be bursting his bubble.
These two must be sent from above to give him hell.
Fixating on Lyla, Mark went to sit over by her side. “Don’t listen to their nonsense.”
“Are you saying that your son is spewing nonsense on purpose?” Raising a brow, Lyla appeared mild in manner, like a little lamb. Nevertheless, there was just something frightening about her eyes.
