Rotten Twins: Making a CEO a Daddy นิยาย บท 348

The following few days.

Delilah could not believe that Mark had not shown up in her life ever since.

Previously, she would see Mark everywhere she went. Sure, he said that it was a coincidence but she had an inkling that it was deliberate.

Yet now...

Such coincidence never happened again.

In the beginning, Mark would dismiss her after exchanging a few words when she called, but he never bothered to answer later on.

A cloud of gloominess loomed over her.

It was not as though she could give up without getting a clear answer.

Hence, Delilah planned to get a straight answer out of Mark.

...

In the company.

“I’m sorry, Ms. Collins. Mr. Pattinson is not around,” Jason informed.

“He’s not around? Where is he?” She enquired.

“Uh, we’re not too sure ourselves,” Jason apologetically replied.

With nothing more to be said, Delilah gave a nod. “Got it.”

Since departing from the company, Delilah was not in the best of moods.

What was the problem? She had no clue.

Why did it come to this after that night?

Was Mark that busy, or was he... avoiding her?

Why did she have the feeling that it was the latter?

Delilah casted her sight afar. The weather that day was dreary, albeit no more than the blues she was having...

...

The next few days were the same.

Delilah was unable to find Mark. She was at a loss of what to do at the thought of having that beautiful dream shattered and the feeling of falling from heaven to hell.

In a room.

Sitting on the ground, Delilah downed glass after another.

Following the door being pushed open, Ms. Davis walked in. The sight of alcohol bottles and clothes scattered all over the floor as well as Delilah chucking alcohol left Ms. Davis frowning.

“What happened?” Ms. Davis asked. Even at her lowest point, Ms. Davis had never seen Delilah sinking to this level. Her heart went out to Delilah.

“Nothing. I just feel like drinking.”

“Stop drinking. You have had enough.”

“You’re not the boss of me.” Delilah was not having it. “They don’t even care about me, why do you bother?”

Ms. Davis frowned in distress to see Delilah intoxicated. “Tell me if there’s anything.”

“Hehehe...” Delilah scoffed before turning to her. “Tell you? What use is there to talk about it? Are you going to make him come back to me?”

Hearing this, Ms. Davis could tell that it was related to Mark.

“What’s the matter between you two? I thought you guys were all good?” She asked.

With this brought up, disappointment and despair appeared visible on Delilah’s complexion. Somewhere in her heart was throbbing in pain.

“Caty, can you drink with me?” She suddenly uttered.

Dumbstruck, Ms. Davis bobbed her head in the end. “Sure.”

She took a seat at the same spot as Delilah. The pair leaned against the bed as they held a bottle each.

Perhaps due to an ear to confide in, Delilah pulled herself together. “I don’t know what the problem is. Everything was fine before and suddenly, it just became like this...”

Ms. Davis took a drink before giving her a side glance.

“Is it because I can’t satisfy him? Is that it?”

Ms. Davis’ eyes widened, not knowing what to say.

“He didn’t call me at all since that night, nor did he send me a message. It’s as though the things before were a dream and all in my head.” Delilah grew aggrieved the more she talked. Raising her glass, she gulped down the drink.

Judging by the sad look on Delilah’s face, Ms. Davis had no idea how to begin to comfort her. The best Ms. Davis could do was quietly drink with her.

“I’m miserable. Oh, the heartache. What should I do?” Delilah cried amid bawls.

Ms. Davis slowly reached out to her in an attempt to soothe her. However, her hand suspended midair without laying down.

“It will be fine, everything will get better,” She said.

Without a word, Delilah cried into her arms and soon fell asleep.

Ms. Davis furrowed her brows, feeling sorry to see her in such a state.

Everything would be alright...

For sure!

...

“What’s wrong? Are you still angry?” Following behind Lyla, Mark asked.

“Of course not.”

“Where are you going?”

“Amanda has been feeling down lately. I’m going over there to keep her company for a few days.”

“A few days?” Mark lifted his brow.

“Yes.”

“Oh, how many days?” Turning meek, he innocently gazed at Lyla and enquired.

“Uh, I’m not sure. I guess when she feels better.” Lyla was about to take off.

“Wifey...” Mark pulled her back. “What about me without you around?”

“You? What do you want to do?”

“Please don’t go, okay? Let someone else accompany her. I’m not feeling myself as well and need you by my side.”

Lyla studied his face. Was he acting like a child?

“Please? I have been reflecting on my actions recently. Don’t tell me that you bear to see me like this?” Mark probed.

Lyla flashed him a smile. “I don’t think it’s enough. You should proceed as you are.”

Mark, “...”

“I should get going, bye.” Lyla made her way toward the roadside.
