Rotten Twins: Making a CEO a Daddy นิยาย บท 363

The container port.

Mark drove all the way there.

His face was grimacing while on the road, having no idea as to Lyla’s circumstance.

Mark was really worried.

He was beyond worried about Lyla.

Sitting beside him, Delilah looked at his side profile without a word.

It took a while before Mark snapped out of his thoughts. Fixating his gaze ahead, he faintly uttered, “Sorry for what you have to go through today.”

Delilah took a glance at his side profile. Oh, tensed facial lines on that exquisite side profile. He could pull on heartstrings no matter where and when despite the fact she was hurt again and again.

With downcast eyes, she said in a dull tone, “Hadn’t I had enough?” Delilah was confined in a room with no visitors whatsoever as if she was locked up in jail. There were times she found herself laughable to have gone through with it.

Pursing his lips, Mark held his tongue. He knew he did go overboard.

“Can you tell me who it is?” Out of curiosity, Delilah enquired.

Mark gave it a thought before muttering, “You’ll know when we’re there.”

“Hehe...” Delilah sarcastically snickered. “You still don’t trust me.” It was not a whining tone, rather an inexpressible feebleness.

“I’m sorry. I can’t risk her life. If you really want to point the finger, I’m at your disposal after all this,” Mark replied.

Delilah’s heart was aching in pain.

She was envious of Lyla to have such a man love her and risk everything for her. As for Delilah, she did not even have the confidence to hope for love.

Turning her gaze outside, her luscious lashes could not shield the despair in her eyes.

Mark was able to sense her sorrow, yet could not promise her anything.

Heartlessness was the only thing he had to offer because by doing so, she could have a better ending. She deserved someone better...

...

They soon arrived at the container port.

He dialed the number once the car came to a stop. “I’m here.”

“I’m waiting for you inside. Come on.”

Mark turned to Delilah after hanging up, and they both exchanged glances.

It had been a while since anyone came to this abandoned container port as the place appeared desolate. No one would notice anything going on here even if they screamed at the top of their lungs.

Dressed in black, Mark carried Delilah in.

He walked through the large door to find Ms. Davis located not far away, as well as Lyla who was being held hostage.

She looked weak and on the verge of passing out. Mark closed his eyes, taking in the heartache.

Ms. Davis adorned a black outfit paired with a cap and mask. Her face was not visible at all but Mark had a hunch from her figure.

“Lyla...” He stared at her with concern.

Hearing his voice, Lyla opened her eyes and looked back. “Ma-Mark...”

“Don’t worry, you will be fine,” Mark said.

Lyla wanted to say something but she had no strength. She moved her lips, yet there was no sound.

Ms. Davis’ lips curled into a cold smirk. “You kept to your word and came alone.”

Mark took strides ahead while carrying Delilah. The latter had her eyes closed as though she had lost consciousness. Nevertheless, Mark could feel Delilah’s figure stiffening at the sound of the voice.

It was clear that she could tell who it was...

“I brought her. What are you thinking?” Mark asked.

Ms. Davis felt sorry to see Delilah in such a state. “What did you do to her?”

“I should be the one asking you this,” Mark coldly blurted, staring daggers at her.

His lack of questions was not a representation of his lack of concern. He knew that further questions would lead them nowhere. Mark was afraid that he would be able to control himself.

Hearing this, Ms. Davis narrowed her eyes. “I didn’t do anything. She hasn’t been eating for the past few days, that’s all.”

No food for a few days...

“The bruise on her face was from hunger?” Mark retorted with a question. He could get a good look at the red mark on her face in close distance. Mark clenched his fist. If it were not because Lyla was still in Ms. Davis’ hands, Mark would have her know that certain people in the world were not to be touched.

“Oh, sorry, I couldn’t help myself.” Raising a brow, Ms. Davis pretended to be relaxed as she answered.

Mark stared at her with keen eyes. He was without a word as he found crossing swords to be a waste of breath.

“How do we do the switch?”

“Put her there and I’ll release her,” Ms. Davis replied.

With a smirk, Mark looked toward the appointed location. He went over and placed Delilah down before slowly retreating to his original spot.

Ms. Davis watched on. Shoving Lyla to the ground, she bolted towards Delilah.

At the same time, Mark made his way toward Lyla.

He helped her up from the ground and embraced her.

“Lyla, Lyla...” Mark cried out to her. His eyes revealed endless worry.

Lyla slowly opened his eyes. Despite her frail state, she pushed him away. “Go, quick... Run...”

“Go, let’s go together,” Mark remarked. He reached out to hold her.

Lyla shook her head. “No, you go. Run now. There’s a bomb...”

Mark was dumbstruck by the reply. Turning his gaze on her face, he unbuttoned her outerwear and found her strapped to a bomb.

“Go, quickly...” Lyla insisted.

With blaring eyes, Mark took a glance at her. “I will never leave. I refuse to abandon you.” He lay Lyla flat on the ground and focused on the bomb in ways to defuse. “Don’t worry. There’s no source of fire. You’ll be okay.”

Just then, the door to the container was locked shut and soon they caught a whiff of gasoline.

Mark was taken aback. This woman was cruel.

It did not take long before the fire began to spread from outside.
